With Drake achieving platinum Rap success with Thank Me Later, 2010 has been a banner year for the music scene of Toronto, Ontario. With rich histories in Rock and Electronic music – as well as Hip Hop, one filmmaker is profiling 30 years of the city’s underground music history. According to Toronto site BlogTO.com, Colm Hogan is finishing up Sketched Out, which particularly looks at Hip Hop, Techno and Punk cultures in Toronto, dating back to the late 1970s.
Among the 35 interviews Hogan has already conducted, yesterday’s article confirmed the film’s participation from Toronto emcee, Maestro Fresh Wes. Since 1989, Fresh Wes has been releasing Hip Hop albums, working with Main Source co-founders Sir Scratch and K-Cut, as well as Showbiz, Percee P and another Toronto pioneer, Choclair. Wes’ last album was 2000’s Ever Since.
