After former collaborating producer and friend Prolyfic had some choice words for Lupe Fiasco this past weekend concerning his album’s current status, the Chicago rapper responded via Twitter to counter the harsh criticism.
While Prolyfic blamed the delay of Lasers on his belief that it had no hit singles for Atlantic Records to get behind, Lupe stated, “PRO!…my man…[you’re] not my manager…fall back…take all that ‘advice’ and further your career with it.”
As the two Chicago artists haven’t worked together since 2006’s Food & Liquor, he continued, “You put yourself on the outside…so don’t be salty now that [you’re] being treated like an outsider…My career is mine. And I’ll proceed with it how I wish. [You’re] ignorant to my situation and why WE move how WE do. Speak what you know, not what you think you know.”
Fiasco added, “Frankly you know very little. But I KNOW you lil bro, I’m the reason they even know you at all…I pray you sell a few beats the same way [you’re] selling yourself right now. When the music stops who’s gonna have a chair to sit in?”
Though finished, Lupe Fiasco’s Lasers is still awaiting an official release date.

Hmmm…AG didnt have any hits? “Roc Boys” and “I Know” got major play (radio and clubs) and were banging! Even “Blue Magic” was cool. Roc Boys and Blue Magic were on Billboards Top 100. So yea, you gotta have “hits”. The point is Lupe can’t make a “smart single” like Jay does without compromising who he is as an artist. Something dope lyrically, with a dope beat that can sell or at least knock in the club. Lord knows i dont bump Lupe in the whip on the way to the club. But, I like Lupe as an artist, and hes definitely one of the best lyrically but he better play ball before he ends up like Saigon.
slow up my man, “I Know” was no hit. A great song yes, but that was not a mainstream single in the sense of the word. “Roc Boys” i think i’ll have to give to you but it could go either way. Remember that the first single off that was “Blue Magic” which we can hardly call a mainstream single. That thing was one cohesive piece of work. And it went platinum. So let’s chill with all that “Lupe’s album has no hits stuff.” The only opposing argument that makes sense is that Lupe can’t do what Jay can do. And only time will tell…

Both in my opinion were classic but The Cool was basically an Audible Book if you link it back to “the cool” song off Food & Liquor. Underrated by So called fans and was way more listenable. Who says he has no endorsements? Has anyone taken the time to think just maybe the MAJORITY of people who buy albums doen’t like Lupe. He was never an accesible mainstream artist to start with. Ask someone randomly and they’ll more than likely call him the “Kick, Push” rapper, not the “F & L was a great album” rapper.

I’m still convinced that as of right now Lupe’s album is shelved due to weak material, and it’s not on the strength of Pro’s outburst. For real, the album was allegedly finished for a while, so the only reason why a label won’t put it out is because of lack of marketability and buzz. Bloggers and commentators can scream all day that they want it, but radio stations and whatnot will (sadly) prove otherwise.
But if things are really true like throwing tantrums on his fans grabbing his leaked music, that’s Lupe’s start on burying his own career. I guess as fans there’s nothing we can do but watch.

Pro is NOT Lupe’s manager and can’t possibly know whats going on with Lupe’s situation. And yeah, i don’t know who he is outside of being Lupe’s producer.
But….
