It looks like LL Cool J won’t just be hosting the 55th Annual Grammy Awards this Sunday, February 10th.
In a recent report from MTV, it appears that LL will be performing alongside Public Enemy front man Chuck D, Travis Barker, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello and DJ Z-Trip at the Grammy Awards. The performance is reportedly a mash-up of Hip Hop, rock and EDM.
The Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow spoke about the performance, saying the idea spawned from LL’s history as a host for the Grammy Awards.
“LL is part of our family now. He’s not a hired gun and last year after we did the nominations show we said, ‘Let’s do [something] this year,’ and he was up for it,” Portnow explained. “He represents so much history with his work in Hip Hop…to this day he’s in it, he’s respected for it and we thought, ‘Gee, it’s right under our noses, let’s do something with LL and have a lot of fun with that.'”
Portnow added, “[The performance is] not so much a tribute to [LL’s] music, so much as a celebration of the kind of music he’s been known for and others that have followed.”
Other performances lined-up for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards include Miguel, Wiz Khalifa, Frank Ocean, Alicia Keys and more.

Great, and as for the white boy,…
Barker or Z-Trip?
i assume he means barker because his name was in the headline and hes the most over rated drummer of all time with no real contributions to the world of music
who the fuck is Z Trip tho
@2nd Anonymous
i like the contributions he made to the 1999 Blink 182 album Enema Of The State…. asshole
Z-Trip is Talib Kweli’s DJ. Also a fairly innovative scratch DJ. Google him. Talib’s new mixtape is hosted by him. It’s called Attack The Block.
enema of the state? yeah thats going to go down in history as a real pop punk classic! NOT
u guys that argue about music are fags. real talk
LL Cool J looks like a ninja turtle. Anybody else get that? Also good to Chuck D in the mix at this horribly putrid event.
I always thought Mannie Fresh was the 5th Ninja Turtle…
Chuck D and LL Cool J
That’s gotta be DOPE folks!
Great to see two hip hop legends performing together…I would love to hear a collab too, maybe on LL’s “Authentic”
“maybe on LL’s “Authentic”
I may be wrong, but I doubt it.
