Lil Yachty Checks His Artist Over Use Of N-Word: ‘You Shouldn’t Say That’

Lil Yachty has often used his reach in the music industry to elevate other artists and those signed to his Concrete Boys imprint are evidence of that — but there are certain things he won’t do, even for his signees.

In late September, the 26-year-old hosted his label’s roster on A Safe Space Podcast to discuss everything from music to dating to friendship. However, it wasn’t until recently that a clip involving Karrahbooo, who calls herself the “First Lady of Concrete,” began circulating online.

The interview clip shows the rising star defending her use of the n-word, despite being criticized for it by fans and and those who listen to her music.

“I do, like, get kinda annoyed how everyday somebody’s commenting, ‘Why do y’all keep letting her say n-gga?’ Or they be like, ‘Can you stop saying that?’ Stuff like that, y’know,” she said. “So why don’t y’all go ahead and defend me to everybody right now?”

Boat swiftly shut down her request by replying: “That won’t happen … you shouldn’t say it,” leaving his fellow Atlanta rapper visibly shocked.

Check out the exchange at the 14:29 mark below:

While the discussion around Karrahbooo’s use of the n-word continued, with the group talking about white people using the racial slur, Karrahbooo later clarified that Lil Yachty wasn’t being serious.

“We was playing y’all don’t know us anyways idgaf smdd,” she wrote in a comment on The Neighborhood Talk‘s Instagram post. “I’m black idgaf what y’all talm bout y’all don’t know me bored ass people.”

Karrahbooo is relatively new to the game, though she had one of her first big industry hits earlier this year with “BOX THE 40.” Released in late March, the music video features a cameo from Lil Yachty and has over 230,000 views on YouTube.

More recently, she rapped alongside Lil Boat and the rest of the Concrete Boys crew in an On The Radar freestyle that premiered in late October.

“Ain’t no n-gga that I trust to knock off the dust/ Walk with that sack under my arm ’cause stackin’ up a must/ I crushed the Perc’ into the Tuss’, too geeked up to fuss/ Move like a boss, I’m not like them, they doin’ such and such,”</em” she rapped to close out the cypher, demonstrating that Yachty is most likely okay with her using the n-word after all.

    1. Lol, yet black people go on Adam22’s and Vlad’s shows and say the n word all through their shows. If black people don’t want other people to use the word, don’t say it around them. Adam22, DJ Vlad, Dave Portnoy, and Jeremy Levine all profit from black people use of the word. Black people become angry and emotional when others say it, but they’re fine when they use it around Jws and others while Jws profit from the use of the word. Smh..

      1. Some black people care about the use of the word, some don’t. The people who do care aren’t the ones sitting on Adam, Vlad, etc saying the N word because they typically dont even say it themselves… what you mean is *some* black people get angry and emotional when other say it. That is true. Not everyone cares enough to react to a non black person saying ni99a. It is what it is.

      2. Including whites in France and England that benefited and profited from the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Matter of fact, it was Great Britain who sent the first African slaves to its colonies in America. So the outset of racism started in Europe. England, Spain, Denmark-Netherworld and France holds the biggest responsibility of the slave trade and racism because they started it. There wasn’t a United States of America when the first African slaves were brought here, only European colonies.

      3. @LordSlim just like white people in England and France who benefited and profited from the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Matter of fact, Great Britain brought the first African slaves to its colonies in America. There wasn’t a United States of America when the first slaves were brought to the Americas. So blame Europe for racism. Which Europe country sent African slaves to Haiti? Which European country sent African slaves to Jamaica? Which country sent African slaves to South America?

      4. I agree with you on which nations were involved in the slave trade, such as the British, France, Spain, Portugal, Denmark and the Dutch etc. But blaming all countries in the continent of Europe for racism is retarded. Europe is NOT like the US and there’s no such thing as a collective “white” nationality either. Most countries in Europe had nothing to do with the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. In fact some countries in Europe suffered brutal oppression and slavery from the slave trading Nations you mentioned. The Irish were victims of over 800 years of British oppression , including slavery and even predate Africans as the first slaves to be transfered to the Carribean to work on British plantations.

      5. @DontBlameAllEuropean all I’m saying is that people should stop associating racism and the African slave trade to the USA because there wasn’t a USA when Great Britain brought African slaves to its colonies. European countries transported African slaves around the world and profited from it; including the Royal Family. People should hold King Charles and his family responsible for the Transatlantic Slave Trade and racism.

      6. But whi traded the slaves out 9f afirca? Their own people were kidnapping and selling the slaves to these countries you mention for profit. Let’s start at the source.

    2. We’d all be better off if that word pretty much died, and was only used for insulting someone, not daily conversations, referring to friends and people as that. We will NEVER see black and white culture actually mend it’s past if we have different dialect, different sets of rules for what is socially acceptable, and so on. Just keeps people separated, by design, of course. I’m mixed (half black, half Mexican) and saying that word was not acceptable growing up in my family, still isn’t. I’m glad it wasn’t. People who use it constantly sound so ignorant. Rappers that curse less sound way more intelligent. Example? The DOC. That’s what gangster rap is supposed to be. Or Masta Ace. Intelligent music.
