Lil Wayne Names His Only Worthy Verzuz Opponent

Lil Wayne has been requested in the Verzuz ring for years now, but he believes if he ever does do the show, there’s only one person he’s willing to go up against.

Talking to Rolling Stone in an interview published on Friday (June 9), Weezy revealed that he’d been entertaining the idea of going up against… himself.

“I was interested in Mixtape Weezy going against Lil Wayne,” he said, noticeably using the past tense by saying “was interested.” “That would have been crazy… What other artists you think? There ain’t no other artist that can stand on the stage next to me, bro. I’m sorry.”

Wayne’s comments echo sentiments Birdman once shared when asked about the topic of a Lil Wayne Verzuz in 2021.

“Himself, Wayne versus Tunechi,” the Cash Money mogul said on the Big Facts podcast. “He got too much shit going on, he don’t need to touch that. Come on, brother, this is Tunechi. This n-gga had 100 singles in one year. He passed Elvis Presley in one year. 100 songs on Billboard, so I don’t think an individual could top that. The work Wayne put into it, I wouldn’t even play with that shit.”

Social media has gotten into heated debates over the idea of a Lil Wayne and 50 Cent Verzuz in recent months — but Swizz Beatz has since explained why he wouldn’t entertain the idea.

“Me personally, I wouldn’t even do 50 vs. Wayne — they two different dynamics and two different artists,” Swizz told Baller Alert.

“I would do a different Verzuz for both of them, but we’ll see as we have a lot of things lined up for Verzuz, and hopefully, they are involved. While I can’t give up who I would choose to go against them, just wait and see.”

Wiz Khalifa would also like to get in the ring with Lil Wayne, though his reasons were based more on the performance than the competition aspect.

“I think that would be fun, yeah. Because Wayne is a really dope performer,” the Taylor Gang CEO said in a December interview. “Me and him going back and forth performing bangers? That shit’d be hard! And we’d both smoke hella weed. I think that would be more of a concert than a Verzuz.”

Weezy previously spoke about a Verzuz on an episode of Marcellus Wiley’s More to It podcast in 2022, but it wasn’t for himself as a solo act. When asked who he thinks would make a worthy opponent for Young Money or Cash Money in the ring, he replied: “I would say the best competition, I would have to go with Roc-A-Fella. JAY-Z the homie.”

Up next for Verzuz is the long awaited battle of the hits between Diddy and Jermaine Dupri. The event goes down September 8 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

    1. Has to be Jay or Em. I’m a huge Nas fan but verzus is about hits and song recognition. Only ones rocking with Wayne are Jay and Eminem.

      1. Wtf you mean!! Em is the shit!!! I think he is the only one that can blast a person on their own shit and get away with it!!!! He’s more worthy then anybody!!!!

      2. I dislike eminem, and I’m not stupid enough to say Em, the rapper with the literal most amount of hits, doesn’t have hits. Whats next, “Michael Jackson has not hits lol”. Maybe you don’t like Ems hits either. Doesn’t mean they aren’t hits. Those hits to this day are out doing most every rapper worldwide, including JayZ.

    2. I think that if you want play with big guns kiss can stand up with Wayne like y’all say yesterdays price is not todays price both are well respected but I think jada can stand tall against anybody they both are my favorite I would like to see them clash keep it street Wayne was more main stream but kiss was more street if you want to see north against the south those two would be a mammoth explosion you can’t choose nobody else. Excuse my punctuation this is a Run on paragraph

      1. No doubt Cuzz jadakiSS iS oNe oF the dopeSt mC’S to eveR bleSS the miC, it would be So gReat iF it waS NaS veRSe jadakiSS

    3. Lil Wayne vs Eminem only versus I can see. Same as Nas vs Jay Z no other worthy opponent for either of them. M.O.P. Vs CNN would be dumb dope

    4. Lil Wayne is a average rapper with subpar music and a overhyped fan base. It would be a Verzuz I damn sure wouldn’t watch.
