Wiz Khalifa has revealed that he would love to go toe to toe with Lil Wayne in a Verzuz battle.

In a Shade 45 interview with DJ Superstar Jay shared on Thursday (December 22), Khalifa named Wayne as his ideal Verzuz opponent – though his reasons were based more on the performance than the competition aspect.

“I think that would be fun, yeah. Because Wayne is a really dope performer,” the Taylor Gang CEO said. “Me and him going back and forth performing bangers? That shit’d be hard! And we’d both smoke hella weed. I think that would be more of a concert than a Verzuz.”

Wayne himself was recently asked about who he could see his entire Young Money roster in a Verzuz ring with. He named JAY-Z’s Roc-A-Fella.

“I would say the best competition, I would have to go with Roc-A-Fella,” Wayne answered. “JAY-Z the homie.”

During the same interview, Wayne called HOV the greatest rapper ever, and compared him to seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.

“The greatest rapper of all time is Shawn ‘JAY-Z’ Carter,” Lil Wayne said. “When you do this rapping thing, obviously like football, every sport is different. You play hockey, I’m sure they got something that they only know about. Something that they probably can’t explain, but only they know. That thing in rap, that we only know in rap, he has that. He’s the Tom Brady of that.”

While a Verzuz battle may not be on the agenda just yet, Wiz Khalifa is busy with other business ventures. Returning to the silver screen for the first time in over a decade, a preview of the “We Dem Boyz” rapper’s portrayal of George Clinton in the forthcoming film Spinning Gold was released last week.

Set to hit theaters in March 2023, Spinning Gold documents the rise of Casablanca Records in the 1970s – which was home to Clinton’s Parliament-Funkadelic, as well as Donna Summer, Gladys Knight, the Isley Brothers and more.

Wiz also recently signed 25 college athletes to endorsement deals with his Taylor Gang Entertainment imprint, making for one of the first NIL (name, image and likeness) deals by a music label.
