Lil Wayne Settles $20 Million Lawsuit With “Lollipop” Producer Deezle

Lil Wayne has settled a $20 million lawsuit with producer Darius “Deezle” Harrison over unpaid work for 2008’s Tha Carter III.

According to TMZ, Harrison filed a $20 million suit in March 2011 claiming that he produced several songs on the multi-platinum album including “Lollipop” but was never compensated. He states that the LP grossed more than $70 million and that he would accept a payout of $20 million.

Wayne initially balked at the lawsuit, stating that he had no basis to sue, but they recently inked a private deal out of court that settled the legal matter. The case has been dismissed.

Deezle wasn’t the only producer who claims to have been screwed out of royalty payments. Play-N-Skillz sued Weezy in June 2011 for unpaid royalties on the same LP, as did David Kirkwood that same month.

    1. $20 million (that’s $20 with 6 zero’s after it, folks!) for a song?! talk about priorities in America nowadays.

      1. and somehow because the Mighty Anonymous claims it is the entertainment business, i’m supposed to change my opinion about how stupid it all is? stop acting tough on the internet boy, it won’t get you anywhere in real life.

      2. What would you rather spend 20 million on? giving it too the troops out in Afghanistan fighting the same enemy who America supported against Russia? Entertainment makes the world go round and is everywhere so of course the money is there. Don’t be a fucking idiot and think before getting butthurt about entertainment

    2. Honestly can I write this websites articles for you? First of all, Deezle didn’t produce “Lollipop,” he produced another song on the album which he got shafted on. Second, Jim Jonsin (the guy who has/had B.o.B first signed to a label) made the beat to “Lollipop” and also got shafted by Wayne’s inability to pay producers. So right now I have no idea where you guys went wrong but you did.

      1. Who cares everyone of those producers are garbage…Wayne is weak..and Lollipop was horrible…this shit aint hip-hop…and the fact that you’re upset shows me you are a clown!

      2. MEQBEC suck a fucking dick, bitch. I hate motherfuckers like you that comment just to hate the guy above. Fuck you. Kill yourself, pussy.

    3. one day they’ll run into a producer who’s a g or has some street connects and get they ass merked. thats the kinda money niggas who dont have much kill for. call me ignorant or whateva but if i was bangladesh or anyone of these guys wayne gonna have a pistol in his face or held for ransom.

      1. You mean someone who will hang one of them outside a window by their feet, and demand they pay them the money or else he gets let go and drops head first. People I know who were around during the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s tell me that there were some producers, labels and managers who would do the shit I just said, and some would even try to get more money than they actually deserved or were due.

    4. $20 MILLION for a song???? Clearly, I’m in the wrong business….4 years of college, hundreds of thousands on students loans only to be in debt when I graduate and this negro makes ONE song with a horrible chorus and lazy verses and $20 mil is paid??? I’m slapping BOTH parents when I get home……smh.

      1. Think of it as you will but the song did exactly what it was meant to do and appealed heavily to the mainstream audience…You also have to understand that everyone doesn’t want lyrical insightful songs and would rather just have music to dance too or chill too. It wasn’t suppose to be lyrical and have complex verses. People just don’t get business at all, you would have released dr carter as the first single and it wouldn’t have gotten nearly as much hype.

    5. this is actually a very effective way of lowering the fee’s of a producer. The producer gets signed in at %25, the single goes viral, you make $70mill off the track. In no way shape or form is mixing and mastering a single track worth 17.5million so they steal the track and settle out of courte for a fraction of that. This dude got 3-5million out of weezy and its a done deal. Weezy saved 12million stalling things.

    6. BELIEVE WEEZY PAID THIS IF YOU WANT TOLMAO DX NEVER DOES ACTUAL JOURNALISM. WHAT HAPPEN WAS THESE IDIOTS USED SAMPLES AND AINT TELL THE LABEL SO THE PEOPLE THAT OWN THE SAMPLES SUE THE LABEL AND THE MONEY IS FROZED. ONCE THAT HAS BEEN FIXED THEN THE PRODUCERS GET THERE MONEY IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WAYNE ALL OF THIS SHIT GOES THROUGH UNIVERSAL

      1. OH OK THANKS FOR THE INSIGHT SO YOUR WEEZYS MANAGER NOW? LOL YOU SPEND WAY TOO MUCH TIME DEFENDIN THIS LEPRECAUHN AND WEEZY DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOU …LMAO

      2. @YESSIR

Man, on some real shit. I hope u get paid to ride his dick so hard. So when ppl call u a faggot u can at least say u a rich faggot. If u not gettin paid by this nigga, u are just sad ma dude…Go get some pussy or somethin. smh…

    7. EVENTHOUGH THEY DONT PAY THEIR ARTISTS ALL THEIR MONEY OR PAY THEIR PRODUCERS ALL THEIR MONEY OR ON TIME,MOST IF NOT ALL RAPPERS AND PRODUCERS THEY SCREWED OVER STILL FUCK WITH CASH MONEY SO AT THE END OF THE DAY YALL SHOULD JUST GET OVER IT,ITS JUST BUSINESS AND IF YOU DONT HANDLE IT WELL WITH CONTRACTS AND LAWYERS YOU’LL GET RAPED AND LOOSE A LOT OF MONEY LIKE MOST OF THE ORIGINAL HOT BOYS. FORTUNATELY FOR THESE PRODUCERS ABOVE THEY HANDLED THEIR BUSINESS WELL,SIGNED PAPERS,FILED A SUIT,GETTING READY TO GO TO COURT AND ENDED UP SETTLING IT OUT OF COURT AND PLAN ON WORKING TOGETHER ON FUTURE PROJECTS IF THEY ALREADY HAVENT. HIP HOP IS A BUSINESS…HANDLE IT WELL,DONT CATCH FEELINGS AND KEEP IT MOVING.

    8. How the hell were they suppose to pay the producers, when they spent 3yrs paying the Hip Hop Media to hype the Album? – Phncn MRchntz

    9. “make $70mill off the track”

70 million? lol That seems high. While I think that any producer who does work for said artist should be paid before hand accordingly, the flip side is these producers see money signs dancing around and purposely wait years for someone like Wayne to accumulate his wealth before filing suit. In the end, they get a small fraction of Wayne’s dough which is still alot, but apparently it pays for Birdman and co. to continue doing business the dishonest way.

      1. this dude been asking for his money from alittle after this song was released so i am not suprised hes jus askin for 20 mil
do you know what it is to work hard and not be paid yet the person you done the work for is constanly flossing ?

      2. the album made 70 mill that he produced like 5-6 tracks on that includes worldwide album and single sales

    10. see that’s YMCMB for ya these niggaz talk money but they like jews cuz a black brotha who knows the struggle would break bread with everyone involved.. ya’ll glorify these clowns an spend money on them and they don’t even pay up…. FUCK YMCMB but of crook ass butt bandits lol

    11. Kinda funny he hasn’t had any hits since The Carter 3……..lol.

Lil Wayne, on the other hand, has had a gold album, a platinum album and a 2x platinum album since. I guess Wayne didn’t need him.

    12. now anybody doing business with Cash Money should know that Baby do not handle his funds right. Working with him is like volunteer work..everybody see you doing it but we all know you not getting paid
