Lil Wayne has settled a $20 million lawsuit with producer Darius “Deezle” Harrison over unpaid work for 2008’s Tha Carter III.
According to TMZ, Harrison filed a $20 million suit in March 2011 claiming that he produced several songs on the multi-platinum album including “Lollipop” but was never compensated. He states that the LP grossed more than $70 million and that he would accept a payout of $20 million.
Wayne initially balked at the lawsuit, stating that he had no basis to sue, but they recently inked a private deal out of court that settled the legal matter. The case has been dismissed.
Deezle wasn’t the only producer who claims to have been screwed out of royalty payments. Play-N-Skillz sued Weezy in June 2011 for unpaid royalties on the same LP, as did David Kirkwood that same month.

Honestly can I write this websites articles for you? First of all, Deezle didn’t produce “Lollipop,” he produced another song on the album which he got shafted on. Second, Jim Jonsin (the guy who has/had B.o.B first signed to a label) made the beat to “Lollipop” and also got shafted by Wayne’s inability to pay producers. So right now I have no idea where you guys went wrong but you did.

You mean someone who will hang one of them outside a window by their feet, and demand they pay them the money or else he gets let go and drops head first. People I know who were around during the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s tell me that there were some producers, labels and managers who would do the shit I just said, and some would even try to get more money than they actually deserved or were due.

Think of it as you will but the song did exactly what it was meant to do and appealed heavily to the mainstream audience…You also have to understand that everyone doesn’t want lyrical insightful songs and would rather just have music to dance too or chill too. It wasn’t suppose to be lyrical and have complex verses. People just don’t get business at all, you would have released dr carter as the first single and it wouldn’t have gotten nearly as much hype.

this is actually a very effective way of lowering the fee’s of a producer. The producer gets signed in at %25, the single goes viral, you make $70mill off the track. In no way shape or form is mixing and mastering a single track worth 17.5million so they steal the track and settle out of courte for a fraction of that. This dude got 3-5million out of weezy and its a done deal. Weezy saved 12million stalling things.

While I think that any producer who does work for said artist should be paid before hand accordingly, the flip side is these producers see money signs dancing around and purposely wait years for someone like Wayne to accumulate his wealth before filing suit. In the end, they get a small fraction of Wayne’s dough which is still alot, but apparently it pays for Birdman and co. to continue doing business the dishonest way.
