Lil Wayne Settles With Producer David Kirkwood For Unpaid “Tha Carter III” Royalties

Another producer who contributed to Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III has sued seeking millions in unpaid fees. David Kirkwood has filed suit against Young Money Entertainment and Cash Money Records claiming that he is owed $1.5 million for his work.

Kirkwood’s suit, filed in New York Southern District Court last week, does not make mention of Lil Wayne. His work on the album included songwriting on the track “Love Me or Hate Me,” which was featured on the deluxe edition of the LP.

Kirkwood is the latest producer to work on TC3 who has sued for unpaid royalties. In 2007, Bangladesh (“A Milli”) claimed he was stiffed for his work, and Darius “Deezle” Harrison followed suit in March who is seeking $20 million.

UPDATE: Lil Wayne has settled another lawsuit stemming from unpaid royalties from Tha Carter III. According to TMZ, Weezy worked out the suit with producer David Kirkwood out of court for an undisclosed amount.

    1. lol even if these cats didnt get paid…20 mil? stop it, thirsty ass dudes trying to cash in on weezy’s success…should YMCM records pay the producers? ofcourse..but millions for songwriting? millions for one beat? stop it, these cats are trying to snatch a few cookies out the cash money jar.

      1. your an idiot, before a song is produced or someone writes for it a deal is agreed on. Lil wayne and bagledesh agreed on a deal that included royalties. Bangledesh isnt trying to get money he doesnt deserve this is all money that lil wayne promised to pay him. And that was lil waynes biggest song of his career partly because of the producing so pay the man

      2. Chipz, you’re a fool. They have every right to be paid what was agreed beforehand. They should be charging even more (if they haven’t already) for delaying their payment for so fucking long. It’s been 3 years since that album dropped.

      3. Chipz…please go back to high school and learn the basics of business. The producers should get MORE money because the album has been out for 3 years…otherwise known as interest.

    2. they had alot of problems trying to get songs cleared for that album

he gone get half of that if that

      C4

    3. why is this a surprise, niggas knew CM never paid royalties. this nigga just needed to check wit deezle, jim jonsin, bangladesh and Mannie fresh and he woulda known.

    4. Dear producers,

Dont work with cash money because they always wanna cheat you out of money. Remember Bangladesh?????

      DONT SUPPORT SKINNY JEANS RAP!!!!!!!

      1. THE GUY WHO IS WORKING WITH YMCMB NOW? CASHMONEY DOES NOT EVEN DEAL WITH THIS SHIT ITS UNIVERSAL PRODUCERS NOT GETTING THERE MONEY BECAUSE SHIT IS BEING FROZE BECAUSE THEY USE BEATS WITH SAMPLES AND DONT TELL THE LABEL

    5. “His work on the album included songwriting…” hahah where is ur best rapper alive ???…he has men writing his wack garbage ???

      1. Most of them are mad because he is a black millionaire rapper/CEO from Louisiana.

    6. People that hate Lil Wayne will never have the money and happiness he has. He already has made history and everything else is just extras.

      1. Well if we use your logic we can also say that most of the people that love Wayne wont have his money and happiness either. Last time I checked, being a Wayne fan didnt mean you were rich and happy.
