Lil Wayne is set to make history in Las Vegas later this month, as he launches the first so-called “shared residency” to ever hit the infamous Strip.

According to Fox 5 Vegas, Weezy is set to kick off a residency at Drai’s Beach Club at The Cromwell hotel on Saturday, June 29. Two weeks later, he will perform his first show at Zouk Nightclub on July 12.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Lil Wayne to Zouk Las Vegas,” the venue’s Vice President Joe Lopez, told the outlet. “His dynamic performances and legendary status make him the perfect artist to launch this transformative residency. We look forward to providing an unparalleled nightlife experience for all to enjoy this monumental artist.”

Drai’s Management Group’s President Dustin Drai echoed Lopez’ sentiments, adding: “We cannot wait to continue our longstanding relationship with Lil Wayne and have him return as a resident artist at Drai’s. We could not align with a more dynamic artist to welcome this debut residency partnership.”

While tickets for each of these initial dates are currently available on both Zouk and Drai’s respective websites, additional dates for the residencies have yet to be posted.

Fox 5‘s announcement of Lil Wayne’s upcoming Vegas performances indicated that the residencies would serve as a lead up to the rapper’s long-awaited 14th studio album, Tha Carter VI, which he has been teasing since 2022.

In September of last year, the Young Money Boss quietly announced, then dropped a mixtape titled Tha Fix Before Tha VI.

While he never made an official announcement, a pre-save link to the project popped up in both the Wayne’s Twitter and Instagram bios on September 20.

The project itself hit streaming platforms nine days later, less than a month before he and 2 Chainz began the roll out for their joint effort, Welcome 2 Collegrove, with the release of the album’s first single, “Presha.”

The next time Lil Wayne would speak about Tha Carter VI was in December, when he voiced his displeasure with Kevin Durant for revealing that the two have a collab in the stash that was in the running for a placement on the continuation of his beloved series.

On December 21, Bleacher Report‘s Taylor Rooks got word from KD that he got in the booth with Weezy. She brought up how the baller wanted Wayne to tease a snippet of their collab, but the New Orleans rap deity didn’t like that the element of surprise was now gone.

“Why would KD do that? That was on the wrap. See KD, you messed up,” Wayne said with a laugh. “Now that you done that I just wanted you to know you messed up and that song was considered to be on Tha Carter VI and now that you’ve said something, it’s not going on Carter VI.”

Lil Wayne then revealed that the unreleased track was supposed to land on the Welcome 2 ColleGrove album with 2 Chainz but he ended up saving it for a possible spot on C6.
