Lil Wayne Explains Album Cover For “I Am Not A Human Being II”

Earlier this week, Lil Wayne revealed the cover art for his upcoming album I Am Not a Human Being II, designed by Kanye West’s DONDA think tank.

In an interview with nola.com, Wayne discussed the meaning behind the art, which is a moth on a black background through a red filter.

“(Kanye) said, you know, man, let me do your cover. I saw the cover and I approved it,” recalled Wayne. “He had an explanation behind it – he said, he chose the moth butterfly thing because it has so many different stages of life, and it goes through so many forms and changes, and no one can figure it out, and it’s always beautiful. At a time it’s ugly and at a time it’s beautiful too. And that’s me.”

Wayne also spoke about the album itself, which is due in stores on March 26th, 2013.

“I have a lot of guests on the album,” revealed Weezy. “That’s what’s unusual about the album. I’m usually a two or three feature-type guy. But this album, I have a lot of features because I have a lot of friends, a lot of people that wanted to help out. I just appreciate them all. And I have a lot of different production on it too. I got Juicy J, David Banner, Soulja Boy – and that’s the production.”

In a recent interview with HipHopDX, Gunplay revealed that he would be featured on the album as well.

    3. Soooo much fuckery in this interview that I just had to comment.

1.) Aint nothing original about that album cover. It’s a complete rip off of the Silence Of The Lambs. Nobody can figure it out? I think most of us just did.

2.) 2-3 feature type guy? You gotta be shitting me. This guy is the king of loading up on features. How many times we gotta see a worthless Birdman feature along with 4 other bums on it?

3.) Look at that production. David Banner? Fuckin Soulja Boy!? This is shaping up to be another disaster. Yea, this is a weed plate. Get your kush ready..

      1. I don’t agree. I think this CD is good head game music. Why not smoke on a bigger and blacker blunt like mine?

    4. I’m not a fan of the cover either, but people saying it’s a ripoff of the silence of the lambs cover is dumb. The silence was a moth, not a butterfly, and it was the breed with the skull pattern on it’s back, so it actually looked cooler than this…..

      1. It is a moth. He’s right. It IS an exact Silence Of The Lambs bite. Nothing creative about it. This is typical Kanye. Always borrowing and biting from something else and trying to pass it off as “inspiration”.

    5. I hope this shit flop and he gives up rap for good. Tired of hearing & seeing this sell-out talentless garden gnome look muthafucka.

    6. WITH KANYE BEHIND THE COVER AND WHAT HE HEARD FROM THE SINGLES..U CANT DENY THAT IT IS EN ROUTE FOR BEING ANOTHER CLASSIC UNDER MR.CARTER’S SLEEVES…YMCMB REALLY CHANGED THE WHOLE GAME…CANT BELIEVE WE GONNA GET TREATED WITH ALBUMS LIKE IANHBII, MASTERMIND AND EXCUSE MY FRENCH….REAL HIPHOP IS BACK!

      1. We dont fuck with gays here. We “might” smoke, syrup, and improve each others head game but we what DON’T do here is gay stuff.
        Sorry bruh.

      2. Hahaha…troll much? Lil Wayne and “Real” anything just doesn’t go, little alone his music be considered real Hip Hop. Biggie Smalls turning in his grave right now.

    7. i thought he was putting rap on the back burner to focus on his skateboarding?

must have realized hes never going to get good at skating

      1. He could always get a career in head game. I make 1 to 3 stacks a day.
Go to stickinitmybootay dot com to find out more.

      2. He said he was retiring from rap after Tha Carter V. I don’t believe it but that’s his official word right now.

    8. This album is gonna be ass. Just another weed plate to break up buds on. I miss the early 2000’s and the 90’s. You know when music consistently sounded good in all genres. I was one of those cats that use to take pride in his huge collection of cd’s(I still do). But I haven’t bought an album in years. I might buy Justin Timberlake’s new album though, if it’s anything like his first two albums.

      1. Chut the fuck up nigga. How you so sure it’s gonna be ass??? You can’t predict the future nigga so sit down and stop bitching

    10. “you know, Kanye said, I just watched Silence of the Lambs and I saw the box art for that. I thought we should crop the moth out of that picture, put a black background behind it, make it red. and pretend like there’s a deep meaning behind it. It just be a fraud like the music you make Weezy. And I said, yea lets go for it.”
