Lil Wayne Details Why Drake Isn’t On “Tha Carter V”

As part of the CRWN interview series, Lil Wayne sat down with Elliott Wilson in his hometown of New Orleans this week to discuss a plethora of topics, including why Drake isn’t on Tha Carter V.

    Weezy’s explanation was simple.

“He has a song that didn’t get cleared,” Weezy said. “The clearances man. The clearances man. People be trippin’ when they find out who it is and when they find out what the song’s subject is about. They don’t represent the names of something like that.

After Wilson asked if it was because the songs were too “raunchy,” Wayne replied, “You really don’t know why they say no.”

Post Malone was also expected to appear on the track “What About Me” featuring Sosamann but when Tha CV arrived last Thursday (September 27), Malone was noticeably absent.

The song’s co-writer Johnny Yukon explained, “There is a version [of ‘What About Me’] that Post cut literally this week. [But] something happened, I don’t know what. Something got delivered wrong.”

The 23-track-project was released on Wayne’s 36th birthday and featured Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, the late XXXTENTACION and more. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]

    1. I was hoping it was because he realized that the world is sick of Drake’s cosplay ass. Dude is Gaynadian, talking about Eastside G and shit. Ghost writing. Porn star knocking up. Deadbeat dad. Blackface. Drake is lame AF. He’s probably real bitter on the low that Weezy is back. He should be.

    2. Wayne jumped ship at the right moment. Drake and Nikki Borge flopped in comparison to their previous releases. Looks like Baby is rightfully heading to prison and he will probably will have his assets seized. Good call.

      1. You condone people going to jail.
You fucking scum bag. Hip hop is street music. May deafness full upon you swiftly.
You are not worthy to listen to this genre Of music.

    3. Y’all Some Hatin Muthafuckas .. Always tryna bring the next man down that’s doin better than U are .. nugga

    4. I consider this addition by subtraction. Now how do we get rid of that awful XXX song? Weezy didn’t even know who dude was until Mack Maine suggested a track with him.

    5. Drake and Wayne are still both ongoing jokes to true hip hop heads. Especially Drake. Still cant believe straight grown men listen to this shit.

      1. You are not describing true hip hop heads, you are describing closeted hypocrites who are too afraid to eat a certain way because someone will think they are gay, someone who thinks about being gay and gay things all the time all the while being curious about gay. But hide behind their trumped up masculinity by making themselves seem the furthest away from gay. They are gay adjacent

    6. I think maybe it had to do with the tidal And apple streaming beef/war the two are signed two like the song pop style they had many issues with that song just saying

    7. Soul of Lil Wayne I got more white boys than most bars more bars than most white boys in the whole rap game we should take a f****** chance man and just let me show you what I got bro for real though I’ll bust it off

    8. 9182913126 my family is hungry I need to feed them and I promise I will never be defeated I’ll show you what I got and you put me on the spot

    9. I find it hard to believe that anyone would deny a sample with drake. Maybe cus its was waynes record. But it wouldve been the biggest track boosting sales of the original record. Drake prolly wasnt sending vocals
