Lil Wayne has left a bad taste in the mouths of fans who attended the final date of his Welcome To Tha Carter Tour, after he canceled the show mid-performance.
On Saturday (May 13), Weezy rolled into Los Angeles, California for a concert at The Wiltern Theatre in Koreatown — and for anyone who couldn’t make the show in person, it was being live-streamed for a $15 fee.
Due to kick off at 9 p.m. PDT, Lil Wayne didn’t hit the stage until past 10 p.m — much to the disappointment of fans. “At the wiltern Los Angeles lil wayne concert. Supposed to go on at 9pm its 10:10 now and no lil wayne. Where he at??!” one person tweeted.
When he finally made it out, Wayne — who donned a Kobe Bryant L.A. Lakers jersey, complete with purple and gold baseball cap and icy sunglasses — kicked off his set with “Mr. Carter,” taken from his 2008 Grammy Award-winning album, Tha Carter III.
From there, the show seemed to go well for the New Orleans Hot Boy as he ran through his extensive catalogue, performing tracks like “Fireman,” “Hustler Musik,” “Drop the World,” “BM J.R.,” “Let the Built Build,” “I’m Single,” “Love Me,” “Lollipop” and more. He even brought out 2 Chainz for a performance of “Duffle Bag Boy.”
In the middle of his set, Wayne left the stage for a brief intermission and left it up to his Young Money artists Lil Twist, Yaj Kader, and Allan Cubas to entertain the crowd. However, just as Cubas was about to perform his second track, Wayne walked back on stage, grabbed the microphone and told his artist it was time they wrapped up the show as he didn’t think they were getting enough love from the crowd.
“We appreciate it, but we ain’t about to be bending over backwards for these folks. We work too hard for this shit. We work way too hard,” Lil Wayne told Cubas before addressing the audience.
“This my muthafuckin’ artist Allan, that was Twist, that was Yaj; we are Young Money. We appreciate y’all time,” he said. Wayne then set the mic down and signalled to his crew that it was time to go.
Left confused, many fans thought Wayne would be back out on stage. But as they stood looking at each other for about 10 minutes, with some chanting “Weezy,” the lights came up and people were instructed to leave the venue.
“I’ll never look at Lil Wayne the same after tonight. He really cancelled his concert mid show bc the audience (I am the audience) sat down while he took a smoke and piss break,” one fan tweeted, adding: “Refunds are in order.”
“Lil Wayne is the most disrespectful rapper!” a second fan tweeted. “Yo how are you late 3 hours then do 30 minutes everyone was so supportive even tho he had no energy. Then he cus out his fans and drops the mic and leaves. The audacity l. Smdh.”
Another added: “Went to the lil wayne concert tonight. we waited 3 hours for him. then it was lit it was cool then he brought out some of his new artists along with lil twist they was whack. wayne got mad and canceled the show. im still in disbelief like he really did that. smh.”
One fan went as far as to say they would never go to another Lil Wayne show again based upon the poor experience they had at The Wiltern.
“I will never go to another Lil Wayne concert again after he arrived 3.5 hours late then performed for 30 had intermission put his new artist to perform then came out and canceled the rest of the concert because the crowd wasn’t hype enough for his new artist,” they tweeted.
While one Weezy follower took solace in the fact they got to see him perform “Duffle Bag Boy” alongside 2 Chainz, others called out the New Orleans rapper over the Young Money roster he got upset over.
“This is the dude Lil Wayne cancelled his LA show over,” one person wrote, sharing a screenshot of Allan Cubas’ Spotify page. “A dude with less Monthly Listeners than there were people in the room. Embarrassing.”
“At the #lilWayne concert in LA. THIS MF MAD CUZ NOBODY fucked wit lil twist at refused to continue. Bruh was 3 hours late!!!” another tweeted.
A third fan added: “Dear Lil Wayne, I’m sorry I didn’t know your artist’s lyrics word for word bar for bar at your LA show tonight but cmon mane how am I supposed to know this.”
This isn’t the first time Lil Wayne has upset fans during his Welcome To The Carter Tour. Last month, Weezy abruptly pulled out of his Atlanta show just a few hours before he planned to take the stage.
Wayne’s team shared the news via the New Orleans rapper’s Instagram story writing: “Due to unforeseen circumstances we have to reschedule the Atlanta show tomorrow.”
Neither Lil Wayne nor his team explained why the show was canceled. There was, however, an understandable amount of disappointment and anger among fans, who took to social media to vent their frustration.
There have been a few other times in the past that Wayne has got into it with fans during a performance, including last year in Jacksonville when he threatened to abandon his set after an object came flying onto the stage.
“This my first song,” he told the crowd at the time. “If a n-gga gonna be throwing shit at me, I ain’t gonna do another song and I’ll get my ass right up out this muthafucka. It’s called respect. So like I said, if a n-gga gonna be throwing shit at me, then I don’t respect that person.
“If you know who that was that threw that shit, tell him I said fuck him and suck on a muthafuckin dick. You little pussy bitch! Throwing flags at me — n-gga, that shit ain’t even real, fuck wrong with you? Pussy muthafucka, let’s go!”

Its shit like this that makes me glad I never cared about concerts. Wtf I need to worship another man like some sort of idol ? Id rather just hit play on the album, crack open a beer, and crank up the sub woofers till I pass out with a nice buzz. Thats my concert. I dont need a visual.
You’re missing out if you don’t go to some concerts. Most artists aren’t rich enough to do stupid things like this and even if they are, the show goes on because the money at stake. Wayne was playing a small venue for the fans and probably some of his friends, it probably almost felt like a favor for him, but if he isn’t enjoying it he can go back to playing giant places.
Was the rest of this tour in theatres, or was it a stadium tour? Just asking. Most artists don’t jump from 15-20k venues to small theatres on the same tour, especially when ending a tour.
For fans that couldn’t make it you could buy a stream for 15 dollars, huh? No offense, but do some research before writing the article. It was a tiny gig and the worst seats were about 500 bucks after fees on stubhub. I considered going but I didn’t think Wayne was worth 500 because I don’t love him, but it reads like there were tickets at the door. Not trying to be rude, but wow, 15 dollars is a nice thing to do for the fans and likely barely covers production costs.
I don’t think he should have cancelled the show, but your narrative is very off.
