Lil Nas X dropped the music video for his Jack Harlow collaboration “Industry Baby” on Friday (July 23) that finds him performing naked in a prison shower. But now, he wants to take things a step further.
The “Old Town Road” and “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” hitmaker took to Twitter to announce plans for him and Harlow to perform the song completely nude at the MTV Video Music Awards, which is taking place September 12 at the Barclays Center. However, Memphis rapper BlocBoy JB isn’t down with it; so much, he doesn’t want his children to listen to rap music anymore.
“me and jack harlow have decided to perform industry baby butt naked at the vmas for charity,” Lil Nas X tweeted.
BlocBoy JB wrote in the comments of Akademiks’ repost, “My kids are can’t listen to rap nomoe.”
Following the release of “Industry Baby,” Jack Harlow admitted he would have appeared in the shower scene had Lil Nas X asked.
“Nas wrote the whole treatment for this video and I followed his lead every step of the way,” he wrote on Twitter. “If he had asked me to be in that shower scene I woulda been in that shower scene. I just let the mastermind cook. Honored to be apart of it.”
Lil Nas X then responded, “wait!!! i didn’t know! let’s shoot it again! please jack harlow!!! please. to the lgbtq+ community i sincerely apologize. i have failed you. i am embarrassed. i am ashamed. and i will learn from my mistakes.”
When film producer and social media commentator Tariq Nasheed criticized Lil Nas X for the concept of the video, Lil Nas X said, “lemme explain. lil nas = gay so he wit boy. jack harlow = straight so he wit girl. got it??”
Christian Breslauer directed the video for “Industry Baby,” having previously created visuals such as Roddy Ricch’s “The Box,” Doja Cat’s “Streets,” The Weeknd’s “Better Believe” and Lil Baby’s “Errbody.” The song itself was produced by Kanye West and Take a Daytrip.
somebody gonna have to put a hit out on these execs. maybe three or four. that’s the only answer.
Dude. Calm tf down. You sound like a 16 year old girl trying to be hard online. Stfu jackass
where Im from shots let off first they can decide after if 16 year old or girls did the work
somebody gonna have to drop these motherfuckers. put a bullet in some one’s head and don’t stop there. get rap back.
who trash X’s executive producer? where does he live? what is his name
This is making people really angry and bad shit is going to happen because of it.
somebody’s going to give up their career to get pay back. they are going to let the wrong c list rapper into the wrong event and shots are going to get let off – execs won’t have anyplace to run. mark it down this will happen in the next year
I remember dude from Maryland – very talented brother too – ran some kind of internet scheme and made hundreds of millions. Of course he put some of it in his music. Millions of dollars in studio, records with T Pain, billboards everywhere. Never got a song on the radio or a mention in their press. It’s rotten to the core and it can’t be fixed without hard lessons being taught.
Hard lessons. The harshest we know. That’s the only answer. Mark it down.
It’s sad to see some wack mf’s can make a career built upon their bedroom habits.
When the music sucks…go the shock value route. And unfortunately, X has missed the point…again.
I can’t be the only one who finds all this controversy corny and pointless. Let that man live. It’s simple – if you into his music and like what he’s doing, continue to enjoy it. If not, then don’t watch/listen. Nobody forcing you or your kids to be his fans. His music ain’t for me and that’s okay
Not only is this garbage so far away from the mobb deep and gangstarr we all loved, dudes calling himself nas. WTF HAPPENED TO HIP HOP? GROSS. jack harlow gay too
Good heavens man!!!
So this is where he draws the line. Not the violence, not the (straight) sex, not the drugs. Nope. This is the part that’s too much for his 6 year old. Got it.
Hell yea lol, the violence is normal to many within many of the communities. Hell to many, they go beyond giving it a pass, they celebrate it as a lifestyle one shouldn’t be embarrassed to live.
Damn typos lol.
Kanye cosign this effeminate chit….America is full of feminine blk sissies now …hip hop is dead.
HipHop is alive. You just have to click more 2 or 3 times and instead of Jay-Z’s and Eminems you get original artists.
Man, this kid is so sexy. He’s a 2/3rd but he’s winning now. I wish some of these butt pirates in the America would just follow his path and cum out. I’m relatively am into Asians and thinks but this guy can get dat work. Keep winning and making America look soft hahahaha…Dingle butt….
dude is on borrowed time, once Drake drop those gimmicks he pull will last no more than a day to stay relavant.
duh, of course tariq is well aware that nas x is gay. the point that tariq made, that nas x clearly missed, is that hes being exploited. being used to project and promote the emasculation and the feminization of black men in the media. the fact that nas x is gay, makes him that much more of a useful puppet to push this agenda. whether or not nas x would agree with that assessment, regardless if you think this agenda is real or a conspiracy theory, thats is what tariq is getting at here.
