Lil Kim has claimed that the demand for her memoir The Queen Bee is so great that its pre-sales will surpass those of the Bible.

Talking about the upcoming book on Instagram Live on Thursday (November 9), Kim made the rather outlandish claim, saying: “When we post our pre-sales, we be surpassing the Bible.”

She added: “And that’s crazy. And the thing is, it’s like the Bible, like I don’t take that lightly. I already know that. But it’s like some crazy shit going on behind the scenes.”

The Bible is the highest selling book of all time and is believed to have sold between five and seven billion copies.

Kim went on to allude to having difficulties with book publishers, saying: “You have to be really careful when you deal with these book companies because they try to, like, literally take advantage of you.”

Lil Kim announced the book back in 2021 and finished it this past summer. Upon reaching the finishing line, Kim posted on X, then known as Twitter: “It’s been a long journey beehive, edits are finally done [raised hands emoji]. Thank you to my bestie/soulmate @themarcjacobs for doing my forward.”

Co-written with music journalist Kathy Iandoli, The Queen Bee is expected to be released in March 2024. According to a press release, it will deal with “her complicated high-profile relationships, the misogynistic industry she fought to change through sex positivity, the challenging double standards of self-image and beauty in the spotlight, and the momentous act of loyalty that ultimately landed her in prison.”

The 288-page book will explore Kim’s early life to her entrance onto the Hip Hop scene as part of Junior M.A.F.I.A. and the release of her pioneering solo album Hard Core, which came out in 1996.

The Queen Bee will also see Kim’s take on her romantic relationship with The Notorious B.I.G., which is alleged to have been fraught with domestic abuse.

Talking to Hot 97’s Ebro Darden in 2017, Kim said: “It’s not wrong with [Jermaine Dupri] tellin’ the story; it’s a part of history. It happened. The story is not exactly how he said it, but it’s very close to the truth.

“We did have a very violent relationship. I hate that, for a while, that was all I attracted: violent [men]. It is what it is. He was everything. You know how it is when you’re in the industry: the guys can do whatever they want, but you can’t do shit. You can’t do nothing.”

The story Kim was referencing is Biggie pulling a gun on her in a recording studio to get her to record a verse for Usher.
