Chicago rapper Lil Durk recently chopped it up with XXL to talk about a variety of topics including, among others, his debut studio album Remember My Name.
First off, Durk revealed some of the features fans can expect to hear on his upcoming project, which is scheduled to be released in just over a month on June 2.
“Jeremih and Logic, right now,” Durk says. “Then my artist I just signed named Hypno Carlito. We got Jadakiss and Meek [Mill], they’re supposed to do their verses. But time is running out so if they don’t send them back, it’ll be a remix or something.
“We ain’t got no French [Montana] on the album,” Durk adds. “He’s just going to do a co-sign. We’ve got a million songs in the works anyway.”
Later in the conversation, Lil Durk touched on his new anti-violence campaign aimed to show the youths of Chicago a different direction in life.
“It’s called Cure The Violence,” he says. “We go out to schools and parks to talk the kids. Just talk to them and show them [a different way] because the community looks at us like, ‘They valid.’ So we’ll try to talk to them and show them the footsteps to go in.
“We tried,” Durk adds when asked about the possibility of other Chicago rappers getting involved with the campaign. “But everybody ain’t got their head right in Chicago, so you can’t, really. If he’s on the other page and he’s on another page, it can only be so many meetings to get one page right. You’ve got to think 10 steps ahead of everybody. We tried.”
