Ready to share her side of the story, a biopic depicting Michel’le Toussaint, the “First Lady of Ruthless Records” is set to air on Lifetime next month. Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le promises to not hold back on dishing the details of her tumultuous time with Dr. Dre and Suge Knight.
“Behind the men who changed Hip Hop is the woman who knows the truth,” the trailer proclaims.
Michel’le achieved chart success with “No More Lies” in 1989, which is off her debut album. The preview shows the singer before the world knew her as she is introduced to N.W.A.
“You’re kidding me this chick sounds like Minnie Mouse,” Curtis Hamilton, playing Dr. Dre, says in the trailer.
He is then blown away by the strength of Michel’le’s singing voice.
“I’m guessing that makes me N.W.A now?” Rhyon Nicole Brown, playing Michel’le, says.
The guys laugh, but the next scene shows how she was accepted by the group.
“You’ll be Ruthless Records’ first female artist,” is the response.
Michel’le started working with Dre on the World Class Wreckin Cru’s 1987 cut “Turn Off the Lights.” She had a child with Dr. Dre in 1991, though she stated that Dre abused her and reportedly had to have her nose surgically corrected as a result.
The film is expected to show all aspects of their relationship.
“I gave you this track a week ago, where is it?,” Dre says in the trailer.
“I can’t work like this Dre, you’re hurting me,” She responds.
“You sing it like you feel it or I’ma kick your ass,” Dre says.
Michel’le was married to Suge Knight for eight years starting in 1999 and their relationship will be shown in the film as well.
The movie will also feature a portrayal Jerry Heller. It is set to debut on October 15 on Lifetime.
This comes after the release of the N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton, which recieved criticism for glossing over Dr. Dre’s abuse of Michel’le and Hip Hop reporter Dee Barnes.
Lifetime itself has gotten heat from the Hip Hop community after its lousy Aaliyah biopic.

Not even going front this look like it will be something decent.
I just hope they do right by Eazy in this, bc SOC was bs. She knows the real truth and usually speaks it.
She had nothing but good things to say about Jerry.
Sorry Eazy E fan boy….the story focuses on ‘dre, suge and michel’le’……Eazy E, other NwA memebers will be side stories
Those quotes really don’t seem real.
You are all sonofabitchs, I own a 800,000 dollar home, run 3 businesses in North Dakota, I busted my ass to to get where I am, I be eating and years from now I’ll still be eating! You don’t know how hard I worked to be SO SO damn successful, I have a beautiful amazing wife and tons of money don’t any of you EVER doubt me or else I will fly your ass out here and slap the shit out of you, I’m worth a ton of money and tough as hell!
For somebody with such a successful life you do spend a lot of time BS’ing here. If I were in your supposed position, you wouldn’t catch me arguing on HHDX.
Actually looks good not a fan of lifetime network but I will check this out for sure.
Dr Dre is going to shitting bricks! Lol, good to see somebody put out the truth. In Straight out of Compton Dre didn’t speak or show
any of his major faults but they dogged Eazy and Suge out only showing their downfalls and faults.
Furthermore, Eazy E wasn’t dogged in SOC. The villains in that movie were suge and jerry Heller. Eazy E, Suge, jerry Heller’s family, estate can make their own movie to depict them positively and hope it sells 200+ millions lol! SOC was made by Dre and cube. You can’t be mad about another man’s project. Jerry Heller talked about NWA movie since 2006, didn’t drop it. Eazy E’s Estate talked about an Eazy movie too in 2010, didnt work because Dre refused to be part of it. Like Lil Mo says Michel’le’s movie might do well because she z selling it with Dre’s name . Love story between producer and artist destroyed by a white lady who the producer left her and his son for . Every black chic will see it along with Dr dre fans because of his very private life including MYSELF. Nobody knows shit about dre. we didn’t even know he had 11-13 kids from several women till Michel’le told us! You get where am coming from?
Beats by Dr. Dre before Beats by Dr. Dre.
You wild for that one lol
That’s an old one. Its like drawing a human figure with many dots inside and calling it Marvin Gaye’s father’s Greatest Hits.
At least they seemed to be able to license the real music for this. So many of these films can’t secure the music rights and they end up portraying generic music instead.
Yep lets trust the word of a woman who would suck and fuck anyone for a new weave pair of heels or a car…..GTFOH
Yeah, as compared to Dr. Dre and Suge Knight (who both slept around with numerous women, cheated on their wives/girlfriends and have multiple children).
Michel’le was with only those two guys, and that makes her promiscuous? Gotta love double-standards in rap!
I don’t wanna hear her lies. She has nothing interesting I want to hear! Don’t forget she slept with tupac. Like Daz said. Tic Toe 3 niggaz in one hole lol!
Lol! So none of these men sleep around she”s rhe hoe? Oooookk! Why is it OK for men to sleep around and it’s just men will be men but when women do it there hope she was a young woman who is beautiful and talented just let her have her say. You will be watching so you can defendand the great Dr. Dre after all you was there right right?
Fuck see barns anyway
Okay I am a woman and I have never experienced abuse. In saying that, I can only imagine the horrors she experienced. I would never condone abuse of any kind and I would never tell a woman to keep quiet about it. With that being said I cant help but question the timing. Why hasn’t she spoken out about it before now? Suddenly the movie is such a big success and he has made quitell a bit of money from the headphone deal and now she wants to go so public. The fact that she didn’t chose to speak out when he wasn’t making money makes me question her motives a little. I am truly sorry that she went through what she went through but I don’t feel like she is telling her story for the right reasons.
She told her story back then but no one supported her or listens to her because of who he was. Just because he is the great Dr. Dre doesn’t mean her story is less important and she has an alternative motive why do we continue to blame the victim why is it because it’s the rich powerful man it can’t possibly be true. As far as I’m concerned he was able to tell his story omitting parts that made him look bad choosing to share what he wanted. we all know that she was an important part of that company as well and that she was a part of his life and that he hit her we know that but he chose to Omit that fine but why can’t she have an opportunity to tell her side and whoever chooses to believe her or not oh well if she wanted something from this man she would have went after him a long time ago when it first came out that he was beating her but she did it is owed to her to share her part of the story and let whoever believes what they want to believe it or not
Also the Dee Barnes incident needs to be dealt with in this film as well. That was totally ignored in “Straight Outta Compton”.
she spoke about it many, many, many times. you are incorrect.
Wow, the guy who plays Eazy looks nothing like him. He looks more like Chance the rapper. Is this a parody?
The death row cum bucket…..no thanks
If she endured abuse from Dre, then I’m truly sorry that it happened to her. I’ve never been physically abused by a man so I really feel for her. However, I remember the Dee Barnes incident and Michelle spoke up and said that Dr. Dre was never abusive to her and he was an excellent father! Check out the interview on mtv. So I’m puzzled by the timing of this. Dr. Dre owned up to striking Dee Barnes and he apologized for it. There’s two sides to every story and then there’s the truth.
