The interaction went down on Twitter on Sunday (January 29). The detractor shared two different photos where Latto’s pants were low enough to show her cheetah-print undergarment and asked the Grammy-nominated rapper, “Can’t afford new panties?”

Taking the ridiculous comment in stride, Latto joked back, “Oh no, it’s the panty police.”

While no one should ever have to defend wearing something they own more than once, Wiz Khalifa recently spoke out about the current “taboo” fashion trend of recycle styling.

“I literally know every piece of clothing in my closet,” he wrote in a series of tweets. “Either that or im havin dreams about shit i own in storage. That never wearing anything twice is NOT a flex.”

As for Latto, she’s gearing up for another huge year following a stellar 2022 that ended with her being crowned Billboard‘s Top Female Rap Artist and the Top New R&B/Hip-Hop Artist of the year.

Her hit single “Big Energy” topped three year-end charts, landing at No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales, Rap Digital Song Sales and Rhythmic Airplay Songs lists.

As the lead single from Latto’s sophomore album 777, the track debuted at No. 88 on the Billboard Hot 100 a little over a year ago. Mariah Carey’s co-sign on the DJ Khaled-assisted remix, released in April, pushed the song to No. 3 on the Hot 100 chart, becoming Latto’s first top 10 hit.

The single went on to keep Latto in a Top 40 position on the weekly chart for 37 consecutive weeks.

“Big Energy” also proved to be an awards darling, and nabbed Song Of The Year at the 2022 BET Hip-Hop Awards, and was also nominated at the MTV Video Music Awards and the American Music Awards.

It’s also up for Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 2023 Grammy Awards, which take place on Sunday (February 5) in Los Angeles. Latto is nominated for Best New Artist at the prestigious ceremony as well.
