Kreayshawn reportedly netted a $1 million recording contract off the strength of her breakout single “Gucci Gucci,” but her co-writer Speak isn’t facing the same success. In his profile with LA Weekly, the 25-year-old musician, who also wrote her follow-up track “Rich Whores,” 
says he hasn’t yet profited from the track despite her signing a lucrative deal.
“That’s the weird thing,” he says, “seeing someone become rich overnight and getting to do all the cool things that come with being a successful artist, knowing you had a part in that, but eating Spam for dinner.”
Speak, who is releasing his new album Inside Out Boy on November 14th, is also lending his pen to No Doubt and Plies, but is content with his situation. “When I put out my album, will the world care? Probably fucking not. That’s humbling. It’s depressing to have the world sing along to your every fucking word, and not care about you,” he says.

I actually know Anthony (Speak), he wrote this song for Kreayshawn cause they’ve been good friends for a while, but no one ever thought it would blow up like it did. Also, he written for many artist, such as Madonna among others.
I can relate to Speak in a number of ways, but you know, fame and fortune is a magnet as the old song said, but I hope he keeps doing his thing and eventually he will be rewarded. If anything, let the down time keep him humble. Also, credit to HipHopDX for posting an interview like this that is quite humbling. A lot of people tend to think hip-hop is the “golden ticket” out of misery, but it truly takes a lot of work, and even when that work is over, you keep on working. You do for you, and eventually it will pay off. Respect to Speak, and respect again to HipHopDX.

Speak is supposed to know to publish the raps through ASCAP or BMI right after the session so he can get his royalties. He basically got hustled, even if it was just for fun, because business is business. People think just because they in the stu getting high they’re in the door, it will quickly close the moment you go home if you don’t handle your business correctly.
