Killer Mike Bashes Grammy Voters While Hinting At A ‘RTJ5’ Album

Run The Jewels mastermind Killer Mike was one of the many rappers to address the 2021 Grammy nominations and like many others before him, his reaction came with a four-letter word beginning in the letter “f.”

The proud Hip Hop activist voiced his opinion loud and clear on social media for millions to see.

“I wanna congratulate every brother that made this list with their raw rapping ass!” Killer Mike wrote on Instagram on Wednesday (November 25), noting the category’s strong lyrical presence this year. “Best of luck to these brothers (Real Emcee Shit)but fux whoever ain’t fuck with us (Lames). See ya’ll for #RTJ 5,” he concluded.

Pop Smoke, The Weeknd, RTJ, Eminem: 10 Rap/R&B Artists Fans Think Were Snubbed By 2021 Grammys

Sour reactions towards the 2021 Grammy nominations were widespread in Hip Hop conversations this week. Drake took to his Instagram to assure fans and artists alike the annual awards were becoming meaningless in the grand scheme of things. The Weeknd called the organization “corrupt” after being completely shut out despite putting up massive numbers with his recently released album, After Hours. And while speaking to GQ, Pop Smoke manager accused The Recording Academy of “trolling” by picking albums with critical acclaim but not the amount of commercial success of his late client.

Released in June and powered by singles featuring Pharrell Williams, 2 Chainz and DJ Premier, the Run The Jewels saw their highest chart debut as a group, bowing at No. 10 with 38,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. The mentioning of an RTJ5 album is also a first.

    1. Sounds like a bunch of cry babies. The people in the street are the ones that matter, period. In the words of Public Enemy…”who gives a fuck about a goddamn grammy?!” How did hip hop get to the point about crying for recognition from corporations?

    2. So after years and years of complaining about “real hip hop” not getting Grammy love for Best Rap Album, it finally happens and people still complain. This is why award shows and people who care about recognition are big jokes.

    3. Well, the album had one or two good songs on it. I know the nerd white backpacker fans won’t agree, but sales and award nods reflect just that. I think that was maybe their worst album. Eat it and cry. I also think both of these weirdo hypocrites need to stop with their political bullshit. Killer Mike’s ad for “triggered” says “Any business in America that doesn’t support black people needs to be burned down now!” Great message. If it was some country singer saying that about white people, the. It would be racist? In the video for “ooh la la” they’re dancing in the streets with money flying around like they want to end capitalism and social economic differences, yet they both drive cars worth over $100K and have $30K watches on. Fucking clowns. Just rap and STFU. Do better at rapping.

      1. *Smugly strokes chin*. ‘Hmmm, you criticize capitalism yet you participate in it. Interesting. Also, here’s a misquote of something you said that doesn’t carry the literal meaning I’m disingenuously assigning to it. And to round off this display of singular impotent anger, let me just discount your obvious talent that I have little chance of replicating myself. Ah yes, that should take these famous award-winning multimillionaires down a peg.’

        1. Wow. Pretty stoic there dork. I was commenting on some hypocrite idiots whining about a snub. What misquote? In the trailer for “trigger warning “ the opening line is word for word “Anything that doesn’t help black people needs to be burned the fuck down. Now.” If a white country singer said that about white people, would you say that it wasn’t in that context etc? Eat a dick nerd. Come up with your own take on shit, if you’re trying to clown someone’s educated opinion, at least have an argument. Oh, by the way, you used literal incorrectly, trying to act smart. Idiot. LOL. Literal would mean I was spot on. Which I was.

“Anything that doesn’t help black people needs to be burned the fuck down. Now.”

See the difference? You kind of told on yourself there. Also, since he never actually wanted anything to be LITERALLY burned down, I’m pretty sure I used the word correctly. So in response to your demand that I ingest a phallus, I’ll politely invite you to choke on mine.

            1. Alright, here’s my take. First, the album. RTJ4 has already been called the “soundtrack of the revolution”. It’s on many critics’ top albums of the year lists. It reached number 10 on the US Billboard 200. It reached no. 1 on the US ITunes album sales chart. It sold a million pre-sales in 48 hours back in May. And they had these sales figures while giving away 300k copies of the album. And in my personal opinion, the album is just dope. They did just fine at rapping, I’m not sure what your complaint is with that. Were they off beat or something? It had plenty of great messages and the production was top-notch as usual. As for the Killer Mike Trigger Warning quote, my take is that Killer Mike is right to demand more from American institutions to help black communities, because they obviously need it. Recidivism rate for black people is horrendous, more black people are incarcerated per capita than white people, and more of them live in poverty per capita than white people.

    4. Even though Jay Electronica album wasn’t bad I still think it should be there since he doesn’t really promote his album with interviews, music videos, and I know there was suppose to be a tour but since that didn’t happen I don’t see what else he did to promote this album. D Smoke is the only one I didn’t listen to, after this I’ll give it a listen.

    5. Doesn’t sound like Mike is crying about the Grammy’s; he’s congratulating the nominees. In my opinion RTJ4 album of the year not just a rap or hip hop category. But that’s my opinion hate it all you want

    6. of course there will be a RTJ5 album…at this point does anyone NOT expect another RTJ album every damn year?
EL-P sold out, 30 years ago he was revolutionary, now he’s just rinse repeat, and killer mike’s rapping is tremendously overrated. whered he even get this guy? why would EL-P not make a group with Aesop Rock and actually create something authentically defjux..you know..the label that got him where he is today.

not to mention…my homie c-rayz walz is sitting in prison on false allegations…cage turned to ICP to sustain his lifestyle of living in a one bedroom apartment..yak ballz vanished off the face of the earth..and cannibal ox are probably broker now than when Cold Vein came out…cool to see EL really stuck around with his day 1’s.
