Kid Cudi appears to have had a change of heart, promising fans that his on-again, off-again joint album with Travis Scott is still on the way.

After surprising fans with an appearance on Scott’s UTOPIA album on the track “LOOOVE,” Cudi clarified on Friday (July 28) that plans for The Scotts collab effort are back on track.

“Its def happening at some point,” Cudder responded to a Travis Scott fan page wondering about the album’s status. “Dont even trip.”

Although, fans shouldn’t expect the album to arrive by year’s end as Cudi wants to perfect the project’s vibe and make sure it’s a “moment for the culture.”

The welcomed news of a collab album from Cudi and Trav — who he refers to as Head of the Rager Department — came as a shock since the Ohio native said in December that he thought “the moment has passed” for a joint LP.

However, some still held out hope when he promised Scott guest appearances on his forthcoming Insano album during a June festival performance.

Scott has long cited Cudi as an inspiration and they teamed up for the first time on 2016’s Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight cut “Through the Late Night.”

They joined forces once again during the early part of the coronavirus pandemic in April 2020 for “THE SCOTTS,” which blasted to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The idea for a joint project picked up momentum soon after which was thought to have fizzled in the years since.

Cudi explained on Twitter that a recent conversation with La Flame sparked the change of heart to churn the wheels toward a joint project.

“Me and Trav hadn’t talked about it since the single so years passed and I figured it wasnt happening. And im someone who likes to work when the moment is right and I felt like the moment passed,” he said.

“But then Trav said something publically so I was like well shit I guess we doin it ha talked to him to confirm and he was w it.”

Kid Cudi popped up for a cameo on UTOPIA‘s “LOOOVE.” The Pharrell-produced song actually has origins dating back to 2014.

According to Genius, Scott teased a snippet of the psychedelic beat for what become “LOOOVE” on social media shortly after his Days Before Rodeo mixtape arrived.
