Kevin Hart had time today. While in the midst of promoting his upcoming Netflix movie Fatherhood, the comedic legend took to Twitter on Tuesday (June 15) to clap back at all of the critics who claim “he isn’t funny” with a series of tweets.
“The He’s not funny’ slander is the best….this is for you,” he began. “I have 3 stand up comedy specials that fall in the top 10 highest grossing comedy specials of all time….2 of my specials are in the top 3 of all time. I have been the highest grossing comedian in entertainment for years now….I have also been the highest grossing comedian in the box office with over 4 billion in earnings… I have also turned my comedic talent into a place of business and branding and radio and other revenue streams….The hate/slander fuels me to do more.”
Hart came with the stats to back himself up and even used a J. Cole lyric from The Off-Season‘s “applying pressure” to quiet haters with a smaller bank account than him.
“J Cole said it best ‘If ur laughing at a millionaire the jokes on YOU,’” the entertainer wrote. “Now back to ur regularly scheduled program. Live love and laugh!!!!
“You guys are what makes this business fun….because it’s not about getting to the top….it’s about doing your best to stay on top after you get there. I rarely talk shit….but I felt the need to today. Stop believing these headlines and read the actual articles…. you guys fall for the banana in the tail pipe trick every damn time.”
Cole previously enlisted Hart to star in his “Kevin’s Heart” video off KOD in 2018. The comedian was already facing public scrutiny after admitting to cheating on the mother of his children. The visual finds Hart being shamed in public and him finally facing his mistakes.
Kevin Hart seemed to be set off by the critical reaction to his The Times interview from earlier this week, where he bragged about his talents and ripped the idea of cancel culture. Regardless, the comedian-actor used the viral Twitter rant to circle back to promoting his Fatherhood movie, which hits Netflix on Friday (June 18).
Everything he said is true. It’s also true that he ain’t that funny. Not to see he sucks but I’ve personally never “laughed my ass off” at anything Kevin hart has said or did. A chuckle here and there but that’s where it stops. Besides being the most popular doesn’t make you the funniest. Mc hammer sold more records than rakim, doesn’t make him a better rapper
FACTS.
Yeah, but what is the obsession with Black people saying he, or other comedians are not funny? Literally for what? Just to make your opinion heard? To shame the person in their success? This is what Black people do. We are comfortable robbing, killing, raping and tearing each other down, but will whine and cry about White Supremacy. Or when one of our own make it, we find ways to sh&% on them because we have to sign off on their status every walking day. If you don’t like Kevin Hart, his name shouldn’t come up in your mind, you should be happy he was able to make it where he is and then go support the muthaf*$#a you DO think is funny. But I know, that is difficult for Black people to do, because massa wired us to attack each other for their gratification and we do it with pride. Then make it excuses while doing it. SMH.
Victory lap
Times are different. It’s easier to consume media these days so while he’s technically correct, it doesn’t accurately reflect the quality of his shit. Nobody is placing a single one of KH’s stand ups among the greatest of all time, I don’t give a damn how much he made. I actually don’t mind KH either, but a comedic legend he is not (yet).
I think he’s funny. Not arguing that. But the argument that highest grossing equals funniest doesn’t mean Jack.
If high sales and huge success are the main criteria to value someone’s talent, than soulja boy, cheef kief, bow wow, chingy, nicky minaj, cardi b, migos, etc used to be the most talented artists on the planet at one time in their career. FOH! It is well known that record companies are setting the agenda to sell shit to the masses. Because shit sales. And it’s the same with the stand up industry and the comedians. I’m sorry but Kevin Hart is not funny. Just because he speaks loud and make funny faces do not mean he is funny. If you want funny, watch Dave Chappelle and Katt Williams. They’re actually real funny and they also have interesting points of view on society.
He’s funny his standup is hilarious imo his weakness is movies just hasn’t translated well yet but who knows maybe he will be in a better one in the future
True… he needs to step away from those comedic roles that always push for him to be funny. Maybe change it up instead with drama or action
He’s NOW getting into those drama roles with Fatherhood and action with the Badlands video game adaptation film. He got in late; should’ve done it after Ride Along
But his character still has comedy traits, he needs to switch ir up just do or try one full drama, action or horror without the laughs.
Humans are just stupid for the most part. Y’all use low numbers to prove someone isn’t great or the greatest, then get mad when someone else using HIGH numbers to prove their skill, talent,or greatness. For instance my rap moniker is “God of Rap” I even have it on a few t-shirts(with my label name) and have been saying it in my songs for a decade. Folks scoff at it or say you can’t be the “god of rap” and you’re still local or no one’s HEARD of you. But my generational skill in songwriting,10,000 hours of practice, unlimited range, and skill proves I am the god of rap. Make up your mind fools lol
He isn’t funny anymore. He was funny when he was poor. He is rich now and he is no longer funny. Thats life.
I don’t care how much you sold, you have NEVER been funny.
