Los Angeles, CA -Ā

Kendrick Lamar turned his ā€œPop Outā€ concert into a family affair by inviting ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul onstage for a Black Hippy reunion.

During his show on Wednesday (June 19), K.Dot and his former Top Dawg Entertainment crew stood on stage for a rendition of ScHoolboy Qā€™s 2014 cut ā€œCollard Greens.ā€

After running through the Oxymoron track, the Compton legend ceded the stage to the ā€œMan of the Yearā€ MC, who performed 2016ā€™s ā€œTHat Part.ā€

Prior to that, Kendrick Lamar welcomed Jay Rock for ā€œMoney Trees,ā€ ā€œWinā€ and ā€œKingā€™s Dead,ā€ with Ab-Soul also there for ā€œ6:16 in LA.ā€

Check out a clip of the reunion below.

Despite the heartwarming reunion, itā€™s unlikely that Black Hippy will be reuniting on a record anytime soon.

Back in April, ScHoolboy Q appeared on an episode of The Danny Brown Show, during which he was asked if he saw himself reuniting with his fellow Black Hippy compatriots.

ā€œIā€™m not making no Black Hippy shit,ā€ he responded. ā€œHell no. Iā€™ll never do that shit. ā€

When Danny Brown pressed, asking if he would consider doing it ā€œfor the culture,ā€ Q snapped back: ā€œFuck the culture. Ainā€™t no culture. What is the culture? What is rap culture? What is the fucking rap culture?ā€

On a more serious note, he continued: ā€œI think weā€™re all kind of on our separate paths right now.Ā DotĀ is doing his own thing with pgLang. Iā€™m doing my own thing, curating a new artist. I did that part already, I gotta have this second part ā€™cause I got like 18 more albums to make.

ā€œSo itā€™s like Iā€™m tryna figure out this phase before I get to the third phase. AndĀ Ab-Soul, heā€™s working,Ā Jay Rockā€˜s working. I just donā€™t see where weā€™ll ever have time to.ā€

That was far from the first time that ScHoolboy Q said that fans would never get a Black Hippy reunion album.

While speaking with Montreality in 2017,Ā he talked about plans for his follow-up to 2016ā€™sĀ Blank Face LPĀ and why people shouldnā€™t count on a Black Hippy project anytime soon.

ā€œIā€™m already working on my next album,ā€ Q said. ā€œThe chances of us getting into the studio together and working on Black Hippy is slim. Thereā€™s too much going on ā€¦ Iā€™m with it though. I wanna do it.ā€
