Kendrick Lamar has shared the cover art for his forthcoming album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.
The image arrived on Wednesday (May 11) featuring K. Dot sporting a crown of thorns holding his eldest child while his fiancée Whitney Alford sits on a bed cradling an infant. All are sporting white tops, while Kendrick is wearing khaki pants with a gun tucked into his waistband.
The caption read simply, “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.” The cover art reveal follows the release of “The Heart Pt. 5,” which arrived on Sunday (May 8).
Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is expected to arrive on Friday (May 13). It serves as the official follow-up to 2017’s Pulitzer Prize-winning album DAMN. Needles s to say, Kendrick fans have been eagerly awaiting the project for over five years.
Early projections have Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with over 350,000 total album-equivalent units upon its release. By comparison, DAMN. landed at No. 1 with over 603,000 total album-equivalent units in its first week of release, becoming his third consecutive album after 2015’s To Pimp a Butterfly and 2016’s Untitled Unmastered to debut in the coveted spot.
The following week, the album remained at No. 1 with roughly 238,000 total album-equivalent units and continued its chart dominance into week three with around 173,000 total album-equivalent units. The album was certified 3x-platinum by April 2018.
Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers will mark Kendrick Lamar’s final album for Top Dawg Entertainment, which he announced last August.
“I spend most of my days with fleeting thoughts,” he wrote at the time. “Writing. Listening. And collecting old Beach cruisers. The morning rides keep me on a hill of silence. I go months without a phone. Love, loss, and grief have disturbed my comfort zone, but the glimmers of God speak through my music and family. While the world around me evolves, I reflect on what matters the most. The life in which my words will land next.”
He continued, “As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years. The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling. There’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts. I’ve prayed for you all. See you soon enough.”
GRODT movie poster vibes
That’s his wife and kid bro
only 350k equivalent first week? that sounds like a very conservative estimate. I can see it doing more like 450k-500k.. could likely do 50k in ACTUAL sales alone.
he thinks he is jesus christ.
nor you!
Here we go….another hiphop artist thinking he’s turning into Jesus Christ…
Simply put, how many times did he, have to safe hip-hop before they know he is a god mc….
well, he ain’t you!
You literally posted 3 separate times, it’s obvious the other two hate post is you. Bozo
ugh here we go again. now all these “classic hiphop heads” are gonna claim how he’s the best ever when he probably isnt top 20 ever.
He’s 4 for 4. No rapper has managed to up the level of their artistry with each release. Most fall victim to the sophomore slump or else they bend to commercialism and wave riding in an attempt to stay relevant. Kendrick will go down not only as the greatest rapper to ever pick up a mic, but also as a once in a generation artist.
Dude, did you listen to DAMN? That was definitely bending to commercialism and wave riding. Let’s stop acting like everything this guy does is unique.
I’ll argue that DMX went 5 for 5 but the roll Kendrick has been on his entire career is crazy.
Section 80 was great. Gkmc was great. Tpab was great but not something I play much.
Now Damn… I didn’t like that album one bit. Kendrick always raps with that high pitched voice now.
I loved section 80 when it dropped because he had a mono tone voice at a time when every rapper was emulating Lil Wayne’s scratchy voice.
Remember when Kendrick needed Drake to prop up his debut sales? Remember when he ended up turning has back when control was released not even a year later? It took kendrick 3 albums to get a no.1 debut while Drake has been going no.1 each time since 2010 with his first studio album. Even his first EP before that made the top 10 where as kendrick didn’t chart at all with his first EP, couldn’t crack the top 100 with his first album, and didn’t go no.1 with his second album despite a Dr Dre Cosign.
Man if you don’t sit down I don’t care if Drake sell five billion he’ll never be on Kendrick level he’s a bum
Kendrick is the wack bum. Drake is the OG
OVO lay off the Sherm , it’s crazy trolls still trolling in 2022
whats up drake
Drake is way more lyrical than Kendrick, got better beats and sells more! Drake is the king of hip hop right now! KING DRAKE!
And Drake’s music still doo doo.
yall clowns talking bout sales/numbers – if you think sales is all that matters then i guess Justin Bieber’s your real GOAT? i feel bad for people who only listen to artists with millions of album sales lol
Bieber is dope to be fair. He makes great R&B Music.
The difference is Kendrick makes good, well thought out projects while Drake makes trendy, accessible pop rap that’s been on the decline in terms of quality since Views. CLB was disappointing asf. This Kendrick album is about to be not just ? but meaningful ?
Kendrick is a real rapper, Drake is a pop star, that’s the difference… and I don’t even dislike Drake, but their output is aimed at completely different audiences.
Nas>Kendrick any day of the week
Why thr kid got six toes tho!?!
You sound like a major hater with a math minor cuz that kid got 5 toes. lmaaaaoooo
How is she feeding with clothes on?
How about she’s not feeding just holding the baby. Or, maybe the cover is censored.
she’s cradling the infant, not nursing it.
What’s wrong with holding a baby with your clothes on?!?!?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!
King Kendrick
DOPE COVER. SAYS A ALOT WITHOUT SAYING MUCH
Hopefully it’s better than DAMN. really disliked that album. I can’t say I enjoy kendricks high pitched rapping these days. I miss when he rapped with a calmer, more mono tone voice. Thats more my style though, never been a fan of the intentionally scratchy voice stuff unless it’s actually how you sound when you talk.
Kendrick never disappoint the album is worth the wait less jazz this time around, deep lyrical symphony indeed he can’t please everybody Kendrick is the king of Hip-hop currently.
Like him or hate him he is simply the best when it come to his game.
