Kendrick Lamar Among Performers At 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards

Yesterday (September 22), the BET network confirmed that Hip Hop superstar and media mogul Snoop Dogg will host the 2013 BET Hip-Hop Awards. The event will premiere on October 15 at 8pm EST. Snoop follows another artist, T-Pain, who hosted along with Mike Epps and Katt Williams.

Last year’s awards featured a Chris Lighty tribute, Fat Joe and 50 Cent appearing together for the first time since their early 2000s beef, and a notable altercation in the awards parking lot between members of G-Unit and Maybach Music Group.

With the announcement of the veteran Long Beach, California host, BET runveiled the nominees for awards this year. An artist endorsed by Snoop, Kendrick Lamar, leads with 14 overall nominations:

    1. Best Mixtape

      Big Sean Detroit
      Chance The Rapper Acid Rap
      Travi$ Scott Owl Pharaoh
      Stalley Honest Cowboy
      Trinidad Jame$ – Dont Be S.A.F.E.

      who the hell chose them

      1. how they got a big sean mixtape from sept 2012 and then a stalley mixtape from summer 2013????

what kind of fucking list is that shit anyway i could name 10 better tapes

      1. That’s sad, they should be instead of Complex, they at least get hip hop more than that site does these days…

      2. hhdx is definitely better than allhiphop as well. their writers are even worse! almost illiterate it seems sometimes, at least that illseed nigga is

    2. Dis show needs to kick off with the “Control” verse by Kendrick…then everyone else can sit in silence and collect their awards.

    3. Tech N9ne should be nominated for this shit. For example, best live performance, hands down, should go to Tech. Shit, hustler of the year could go to the man himself. Strange Music is fucking on top right now, whether BET or any other mainstream fans want to acknowledge it

      1. So what if we disagree? Oh i get it. We should just agree with YOUR opinion and not the millions of other peoples own opinion.

    4. Sweet 16 (Best Featured Verse)

Diddy Same Damn Time (Remix) (Future f/ Diddy & Ludacris)
Drake Versace (Remix) (Migos f/ Drake)
Future Bugatti (Ace Hood f/ Rick Ross & Future)
Kendrick Lamar Problems (A$AP Rocky f/ Drake, 2 Chainz & Kendrick Lamar)
Wiz Khalifa U.O.E.N.O. (Remix) (Rocko f/ Future & Wiz Khalifa)

      HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

      1. who the fuck comes up with these nominees what a joke!

future got the best 16? and diddy???? should automatically not count if you didnt write your own verse

    5. Wale’s the Gifted up for album of the year but no Yeezus? It may not be Kanye’s best, but it’s certainly better than The Gifted and MCHG…

      1. i see they nominated that local rapper for best “impact track” with a song that literally made no impact LMAO

    6. BET SUCKS. How the HELL Big Krit mixtape is not up for Best Mixtape? THATS SOME BS. Trinidad James over KRIT? REALLY?

      1. Because K.R.I.T. doesn’t make BET type of music. Fuck BET anyways. They haven’t been the same since Bob Johnson sold it yrs ago.

    7. Realest Nigga of the year goes to:

      – Gucci Mane

Studiogangsta of the year goes to:

      – snoop dogg;
      – ice cube;
      – dipset excluding max b
      – nas escobar
      – mobb deep
      – lloyd banks
      – cassidy
      – whole YMCMB and MMG click

    8. Told you I ain’t too good
      With writin’ letters and all
I don’t even write rhymes, but what I will do
I’ma send you this opus scribed through the airwaves
      Vibe with me

You know why they call ‘The Projects’ a project
      Because it’s a project
An experiment, where in it, only it’s objects
And the object for us, to explore our prospects
Sidestep cops on the way to the top, yes

As kids we would daydream, sittin’ on our steps
Pointin’ at cars like, Yeah, that’s our sex
Hustlers, prophets made our eyes stretch
Swanson got the spot, *** we started our trek

Some of us made it, most of us digressed
In the name of those who ain’t made it my progress
Show success, please live through me
See, I’m the eyes for Emory, keep him alive

This is a collect call, so every time I press ‘5’
All he wanna hear is his boy talk fly
Up in the fence and still holdin’ his head
So when he hits the streets, he gon’ eat through this bread
      Now let’s ride

    9. MAJORITY OF JAY-Z’s ALBUM GO SOMETHING LIKE THIS (excluding most intros):

      1. INTRO/HEARTFELT SONG most likely with an R&B artist/narrator
(Mary J Blige, Faith Evans, JT, Beyonce, Pain in Da Ass, Memphis Bleek)

      2. BOSSY SONG (City Is Mine, Picasso Baby, Hovi Baby, Takeover etc..)

      3. STREET SINGLE (H to the Izzo, DOA, I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me etc..)

      4. SONG WITH WHOEVER IS HOT RIGHT NOW (FuckwitmeyouknowIgotit, Hello Brooklyn, Run This Town)

      5. CATCHY SINGLE WITH R&B BACKUP (Excuse Me Miss, Change Clothes, Empire State of Mind, Oceans)

      6. TOSS UP WITH A FEATURE (Real As It Gets, What They Gonna Do, Do U Wanna Ride?)

      7. CLEVER SONG (Threats, 22-Two’s, A Week Ago, I Know)

      8. NOTHING TO SOMETHING SONG (Moment of Clarity, Can I Live, Party Life, Ain’t No Live)

      9. “MY SAMPLE/FEATURE WILL HANDLE MY HOOK” SONG (Never Change, Ain’t No Nigga, A Star Is Born, Heaven)

      10. CHARACTER ANALYSIS/INTERLUDES/LAST SINGLE (Song Cry, Venus vs. Mars, Versus, PSA, Friend or Foe)

      11. MADE MAN SONG (All I Need, Say Hello, Big Pimpin’, Justify My Thug)

      12. THE “BODY ME ON MY OWN SONG” SONG (Renegade, Success, Hate)

      13. THE “I’M REFLECTING, PLZ CALL ME CONSCIOUS” SONG (My 1st Song, Momma
Loves Me, Nickels & Dimes, Beach Chair, Regrets, Fallin’, A Ballad
      for the Fallen Soldier)

    10. GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP GUWOP SCREWOP

    11. DAMN, some of those nominations are HORRIBLE.

Detroit is hands down the best mixtape, dopest thing Sean has ever done. How is Bugatti nominated?!? lmfao. Drake – Started from the Bottom should win every award it’s nominated for, dope as fuck Pop-rap tune.

    12. best collab – memories back then
kendrick best live performance? don’t think so. telling one side to scream, then the other side to scream, then to scream together doesnt equate to a BEST live performance. great music though.

    13. upto I saw the paycheck 4 $7329, I did not believe that my neighbour woz like they say actualy earning money in their spare time from there labtop.. there uncle has done this for under sixteen months and recently repaid the dept on there condo and bought Renault 4. This Site… http://www.Fb39.com

    14. What a garbage ass set of “contestants” to this reality show we now call Hip H(P)op. When “Problems” is nominated for awards and no one even really mentioned HIIIpower. When you have a “Black Hippy” performance but somehow don’t include the (arguably, I used to fck with Kendrick so I wont hate on anyone who does now) most prolific nigga in the group, maybe IN current Hip Hop? SOULO. Also, I hope Action Bronson gets some recognition, that motherfucker been spitting that audio dope.

    15. 2 Chainz and French Montana…why does BET always feel the need to have 2 of the worst rappers perform at the show? I mean seriously…spare me the pain.

    16. well wer hearing joe budden wants to fight lol wel dont fight crack heads. rather go to your town make fun of your slow brother lol

    17. HA! KenDICK LAME-ar is a complete buffoon!

This midget, pinhead footlocker-worker lookin ass nigga got nominated & wont take a single award home, I PUT THAT ON MY LIFE!

KenDICK is IRRELEVANT. He is only getting hype because he made an album about how he would get bullied by real Compton niggas and ofcourse all the Hip Hop NERDS (who get bullied as well) loved it cuz they can relate.

Want real rap? Listen to Lil Wayne, Drake, Lil B, Mos Def, A Tribe Called Weezy, Talib Kweli, The Jonas Brothers, KRS-One, etc.

Lil Wayne is and forever will be the KIGN of HIP HOP!

      YMCMB!

      1. ” footlocker-worker lookin ass nigga”

damn this dudes gonna be in denial when Kenny wins some awards, he said he put it on his life that he wouldnt win anything. worst troll ever

    18. “He’s already won an award from them before”

Point is BET nominates all these commercial rappers, then throws Nas a pity nomination knowing he’ll never win cause viewers aren’t tuning in to hear a long winded speech about maturity and divorce costs.
