Kanye West Releases “I Am A God” Audio Snippet

Kanye West has revealed an a capella portion of his “I Am A God” song on kanyewest.com. Sans instrumentation, West raps: “I just talked to Jesus / He said, ‘What up, Yeezus?’ I said, ‘Shit. I’m chillin’, trying to stack these millions’ / I know He the most high / But I am a close high / Mi casa su casa / That’s our Costra Nostra / Ha / I am a God.” The site also shows what appears to be images of West in the studio with producer Rick Rubin. After West raps, they discuss his lyrics.

West’s forthcoming Yeezus album is due June 18 and “I Am A God” is expected to be a song on the collection. West announced Monday (June 10) at a Yeezus listening session at a loading dock in New York City that Rubin was an executive producer of his new album. Rubin co-founded Def Jam Recordings, the label on which West records, in 1984 with Russell Simmons. Rubin has produced dozens of albums in a variety of genres of music. His Rap projects include material for the Beastie Boys, Run-DMC and Jay-Z, among others.

In a June 11 The New York Times article, West discussed his work with Rubin. “It’s just really such a blessing, to be able to work with him,” West says in the interview. “I want to say that after working with Rick, it humbled me to realize why I hadn’t—even though I produced Watch the Throne; even though I produced [My Beautiful ] Dark [Twisted] Fantasy—why I hadn’t won Album of the Year yet.”

West performed “I Am A God” Sunday (June 9) during his set at The Governors Ball music festival at New York’s Randall’s Island.

    7. Nigga U aint no God. And why does he have Capelton on in the Intro. He better chill with that be for Capelton Bun Him.

I aint hating iM just being real.

    8. noooo doubt west is a genius but he’s in way over his head with this shit. i mean, it started on college droput with him calling himself a boss then calling himself the best and then reffering to himself as A pharoah on mbdtf. now he’s hes a god? no matter how many people think lil wayne is a faggot, since he’s mainstream and has this unique style and huge personality, people give him the attention west is dying for. he would kill to b wayne he’s always been jealous of him. its sad but true and if u doubt that its true just see how west features him on the absolute worst songs on his albums to make him look bad.( see u in my nightmares and barry bonds)now west is trying to look way bigger than he is by trying to create a fake but larger than life personality which he thinks many will succumb to, and the dickriders just might. or he actually belives it and is gonna create a kanye west religion

      1. barry bonds was an intended feature for jay-z but jay was doin some other shit and didnt have time to do the track at the moment, so kanye threw wayne on it. do your homework before you make allegations.

      1. yeah, because all the snippets we’ve heard are CD quality. Oh wait, they haven’t been, except for New Slaves. So shut the fuck up, and wait until Tuesday.

      2. No… how about because the beats sound like some bullshit euro house trash. if i wanted to listen to that, i wouldnt be listening to hip hop.

What is this dood, florida or something? Oh how greatness falls

      3. Once again, how are you saying the beats on “euro-trash” when you haven’t heard CDQ, so you’re saying through blaring bass at phone-filmed concerts, you could hear the small details in the beat? Or even have a good idea what the beat actually sounds like i.e. if there’s a beat change? Yeah, anybody that bases their judgement of any songs/albums based on live shit, are fools.

      4. Seems like somebody is forgets how bad “All of The Lights” sounded when Kanye played it from his laptop for the first time in the middle of a Ustream session … Aside from that, I have to agree: what I heard so far in decent quality is definitely not something I’d consider classic hip-hop.

    9. that guy is much better than this wannabe hiphop macklemore.

faggotmore = most overrated “”rapper”” ever, that guy is far far away from being hiphop

kanye > 80% of todays rapper
