Kanye West is showing no signs of letting up on Kendrick Lamar, trashing his performance at a Louis Vuitton event in 2023.
Responding to a video posted on Instagram earlier this month of Kendrick performing “Count Me Out” at the prestigious brand’s menswear show during Paris Fashion Week, Ye wrote: “I hated this so much.”
The Compton native has been the target of much of West’s venom in recent weeks, despite the fact that they have worked and toured together in the past.
The G.O.O.D Music founder seemed particularly irked by the fact that Kendrick featured on Playboi Carti’s new album Music while he didn’t.
Rubbishing his three appearances across the songs “Good Credit,” “Back00r” and “Mojoi Jojo,” Kanye wrote on X following the album’s release: “I DONT LIKE KENDRICK LAMARS MUSIC. HE RAPS VERY GOOD BUT I DIDNT NEED TO HEAR HIM ON CARTI ALBUM.”
He later made similar comments about Lamar’s hit Drake diss song “Not Like Us,” writing: “I HAAAAAATED NOT LIKE US.”
Kanye has also boldly attempted to goad the GNX MC into a rap battle and downplayed his current success, claiming he is not (and never has been) one of the top rappers of his generation.
“KENDRICK WAS NEVER KING,” he tweeted. “MAYBE KING OF THE WEST COAST, BUT NEVER KING OF THE WORLD.”
West then revealed his list of 12 “Rap Kings,” naming the likes of JAY-Z, Eminem, Nas, Biggie, 2Pac, Lil Wayne, Drake, 50 Cent and himself, but not Kendrick.
Despite his continued attacks, Kanye did praise Dot’s recent Super Bowl halftime show, calling it his favorite since Michael Jackson‘s iconic performance in 1993.
“A few people have been asking me what I think about the Kendrick halftime show. I really loved the show. It was my favorite halftime show since the Michael Jackson era, which I can barely remember, I just be seeing clips of it,” he said in a video posted online.
“It was super simple. The flag was fresh, the way they did ‘HUMBLE.’ with the people’s heads were moving. I was shook. I was like, ‘This is super fresh.’ The man’s voice control, all that.”
