Conway The Machine has revealed that Kanye West gave him a bizarre yet heartfelt gift after hearing his God Don’t Make Mistakes album.

The Buffalo, New York native appeared on the latest episode of the Rap Radar Podcast, where he recalled Ye’s reaction to his sophomore LP when he played it for him in Wyoming prior to its release.

After hearing his vulnerable “Stressed” track where he opens up about using alcohol to mask his trauma and depression, Conway said the Yeezy mogul gave him an autographed Alcoholics Anonymous book.

“That third verse, I talk about how I was on that bottle, I’m sipping, I’m getting nice everyday and shit. I’m just giving my perspective of what I’m dealing with with that,” Conway explained. “And he heard that shit and he didn’t say nothing. He just got up and walked out the room. He must’ve been feeling that shit.”

He continued: “N-gga came back and gave me an autographed Alcohol Anonymous book. Like, ‘Yeah, read that, dawg. I love that record. That shit, I felt that.’ We had a whole different conversation that I don’t want to share.

Despite the somewhat random offering, Conway said he was very appreciative of Kanye lending his ear and inviting him to Wyoming to hear what he was working on.

In the past, Kanye West has been candid about his own battles with alcohol.

“I would drink to take the stress away and knock the edge off,” he said in a Thanksgiving Prayer in 2021. “Drinking affected my health and the health of people around, around me because I already had a hair-trigger temper and this just heightened it.”

At the Awaken 2020 prayer event in Arizona, Ye addressed the control alcohol had over his life.

“I never thought about the effect alcohol could have had on my life. I was drinking on the red carpet, and then running on stage a few minutes later,” he recalled.

“And everyone around said, ‘Nah, he ain’t really no alcoholic.’ And then you get to the point where you’re drinking Grey Goose and orange juice for breakfast, thinking, ‘Nah, I ain’t really no alcoholic.'”

Conway The Machine’s God Don’t Make Mistakes album arrived in February 2022 via Shady/Interscope Records. The cinematic, Daringer-produced track features an assist on the outro from Million Dollaz Worth of Game co-host Wallo.
