RELATED: Jay-Z, Kanye West & Big Sean Win At BET Awards 2012

37 thoughts on “Kanye West, 2 Chainz, Drake Lead 2012 BET Hip Hop Award Nominations

    1. Hustler of the Year Awards, yes, this is the kind of lifestyle fantasy BET want to peddle to black youngsters. Pathetic. Will NOT be wathing the BET awards this year.

      1. That award probably won’t be televised along with club banger of the year. Then again it probably will. #that’s ratchet

      2. I judge, by the tenements established in hip hop history, “the hustle” is a valid catagory. It has been an important part of hip hop culture from the origins of hip hop and doesn’t necessarily pertain to drugs. If you want, replace the word with “entrepreneurial spirit.”

    2. Perfect Cobo – J.cole/Missy

      Live Performer – The throne

      Lyricist – K.dot/Nas

      Producer – JUSTICE league

      MVP – K.dot u foools! Jcole/rick ross

CD of the year – Section.80 foools! Sideline story

      Rookie – A$AP Rookie

      Style – A$AP Rocky

      Club – niggas in paris

      mixtape – LiveLoveA$AP

Hustler – Dr. Dre fool (beats is the biggest music hustle)/Rick Ross (has become figurehead of modern game for some reasons)

      Impact – murder to excellence/daughters

Online site – Anythin but DX. Due to some awful reviews and weird fuckin “news” stories.

Kendrick and Nas were stabbed in the back here……losing repsect for BET.

      1. Then get of this site you idoit dx is a great site and if you dont like it you can F*ck off simpple as that and get over k dot let him go back to chool and get some education rap is the ;ast thing he needs right now

    3. worst list ever…talk about dick riding the mainstream radio shit…Drake? 2chainz? Rick Ross? You gotta be kidding me. These are the artists getting awards for hip hop? People need to educate themselves and listen to something with some substance.

    4. 2 chhhaaaiinnnzzzzz, da nigga 2 chianz deserves the plaudits coming his way, hope he wins a couple of dem awards. even tho he’s not the best lyricist,u gotta respect his grind this year

    5. Based on this year alone and not my personal opinions the winners will be:

      Best Video: HYFR or Mercy
      Perfect Combo: Mercy
      Live Performer: The Throne
      Lyricist:Kendrick or Nas
      Video Director: IDK
      Producer: Hit Boy
      MVP: 2chainz
Track of the year: No lie or Niggas in Paris… maybe the motto
CD of the Year: Take Care or Watch the Throne
      Dj: DJ DRAMA
Rookie: 2 Chainz or Meek Mill
Made You Look: Nicki Minaj or Kanye West
      Club Banger: The Motto
Mixtape: Dreamchasers 2 or Rich Forever
      Sweet 16: 2chainz or Drake
      Hustler: 2chainz
      Impact: Bitch Bad
      Peoples champ: No lie

    6. dude like every category has the same the songs and artists nominated over and over again. way to bring some diversity to it! how in the hell is hotnewhiphop not nominated for best hip hop site?

    7. The Dreamer, The Believer (Common)
      Take Care (Drake)
Cole World: The Sideline Story (J. Cole)
Watch The Throne (Jay-Z x Kanye West)
TM 103: Hustlerz Ambition (Young Jeezy)

Really No R.E.D. Album…man niggas in BET are some serious haters…

    8. 2chains ain’t a rookie!

and how is Nas’ album not up for album of the year??

btw to the commenter about Game, R.E.D. album was last year..

      1. He’s a rookie as a solo artist. Like when Lauryn took Best New Artist at the Grammy’s, it was a debut as a solo artist.

    9. Good Music, MMG, YMCMB these are the award categories we’ll split them at the show, also write down which website, and DJ likes you the most that’s how those are gonna be chosen.

    10. Comment sections are filled with single minded cats! I can’t with most of y’all man…

Answers: I’m sure BET Based the release off of June or July of last year to June or July of this year. That’s why Nas, Ross, or 2Chainz albums are mentioned or nominated.

2 Chainz is a Rookie for this is his SOLO DEBUT!!!

Club Banger is something a lot of you can’t relate to, since all you do is talk crazy on comment sections and never live real life in society and clubs!!

How much advertising and ratings do you think they would get nominating the underground for the majority?

You closed minded cats kill Hip Hop, not the people that are commercial that YOU swear do it. Support your taste and keep it moving!

      1. i agree with everything you said, except 2 chainz. i even like 2 chainz, but its not fair for other nominees. he’s been around the block. did pusha t get a nom a couple yrs back?

      2. OK that makes sense for the June to June cuz now I look at it, most of those albums were from late 2011 too.. don’t know why I didn’t see that before.

and I don’t have a prob with the mainstream nominations, theres gotta be diff kinds of hip-hop for diff moods.. having multiple sides to the genre will ensure that it always appeals to someone.

    11. how the fuck is the mercy video a nomoniee for best hiphop video. All they were doing was standing around in a garage… get off their dicks already goddamn
