Kam and Ice Cube have been involved in a decades-long beef, which apparently seems far from over despite attempts to squash it. The latest chapter in the feud arrives courtesy of Kam, who took issue with his real life cousin’s stance on the n-word as expressed during Ice Cube’s much-publicized confrontation with Bill Maher.

In a video posted on Kam’s personal YouTube account, the West Coast rap stalwart expressed his opinion that the n-word is not appropriate in any situation. Kam admitted he was guilty of using the word, but claimed there was no justification for it.
“I’m guilty of saying nigga on records and in conversations and all of that,” he said. “But I try to say it in the correct context so to speak. It means mentally dead black people. Or I even call certain white people nigga or whatever. But I still can’t justify … tryna justify that it’s cool to use at all especially towards black people or around white people. I’m guilty of that and I take responsibility for it. But I’m not gonna get on no public platform and try to make the word seem like it mean something now.”
Kam believes Ice Cube is a hypocrite for using the n-word in rap lyrics yet being mad when white fans say it. The Nation of Islam member also questioned whether his former collaborator had spoken to Louis Farrakhan about the situation before sharing a public stance on HBO.
“If you telling Bill Maher and the world it’s a teachable moment, who is yo teacher?” Kam asked. “Who’s your teacher? Are you in agreement with your teacher? Is your teacher Minister Farrakhan? Does Minister Farrakhan agree with your position that this is our word? Nigga is our word and we can use it however we want to.
And we still can use it and think our fans aren’t gon’ use it when they look up to us as leaders and idols. Who is your teacher if it’s a teachable moment? Maybe it’s a learnable moment for those who think they are teachers.”

Ice Cube just gave hip hop the biggest contribution of reality rap with Good Cop, Bad Cop and this 2 cent chump from 20 years ago shows up to talk shit about him? Fuck off Kam, you’re more relevant retired.
Reality? He’s a great actor…
How we not want other races to say ni**a, but every rap song is full of the word. Do we really think other races edit themselves when rapping along with a song? Lol nah I’m sure they don’t. Still Bill Maher definitely was out of pocket with his comment. You can tell he’s spent some time with black ppl, one of them gave him the “ni**a card”. He got to familiar and he slipped up. I don’t think he should be fired. Give him the standard Racial Sensitivity Class and …..
Actually I do skip over the N-word when repeating hip-hop lyrics. I’m half Mex and Wht and find no reason to use It. For several reasons, such as I was raised better than that, my vocabulary is wide enough that I don’t need to say it, and I have several friends, plus my wife and stepson who are black and out of respect for, not only them but others, I choose not to use the N-word. The majority of my boys who are pretty much blacks and P.R.s say it all the time, I just choose not to follow ignorant trends.
Kam still dissin’ Cube and Cube is way too big to give a fuck. I ain’t dissin’ Kam though because I fucked with his music hard in the 90s until that Kam & Solo shit.
To act as if there is absolutely no context in which white people or anybody for that matter can say that word is ridiculous…this is America and one of our greatest rights is free speech. There is no word in the English language that has no possible appropriate context for a certain group to use it…any word can be said by anyone if used in the appropriate context
There isn’t any context a white person can. Say it around me and watch you get popped in the mouth.
Cube a known hypocrite. From “Burn Hollywood Burn” to being Mr Hollywood himself now.
Always your own that want to bring you down, he could’ve got his message across without talking slick about Cube. We have enough forces tearing us down, don’t need another brother tearing us down. Get your message across without the obvious venom, it would sound clearer and less jaded.
Well, initially the nowadays offensive N-word was used in the Roman Empire and it was just a statement of the skin colour. Why would anyone get offended just because his/her skin colour is white, or black? Words alone are rarely offensive – people who put feelings and meanings behind them make them so. If a racist uses the N word then it will sound offensive, but one can also say the word respectfully and with love – and suddenly the word does not sound derogatory (well, at least to an open-minded person). But in order to make things simple most people prefer to declare this, or that word as offensive and then everyone who even mentions it gets into a big hassle, gets criticized, or even worse.
And who is Kam to try & correct someone about using the N word, Cube’s been doing it for years, at least he’s himself & he dont front or fake for nobody. Kam is still holding a grudge thts been going on for years. Please squash that & move on..
Dude, did you even sell some albums? How does this dude still have a platform?
“Are we there yet” ……..Cube can’t even name the Cable company his accountant cuts the check too evey month.
Best if no one said the “N” word. THAT’s a teachable moment for EVERYONE!!
