Joe Budden has been called out by Drake‘s dad, Dennis Graham, after he went on a rant about the Canadian rapper’s legal battle with longtime label Universal Music Group.
After Budden made his feelings clear about Drizzy in the scathing diatribe, Graham popped up on Instagram to defend his son.
The 70-year-old former musician wrote in a comment: “Stand down now!!!!”
He then followed up with another warning, telling the rapper-turned-podcaster: “Joe needs to back the fuck off, this has nothing to do with him, period.”

Joe Budden’s fiery rant about Drake and his legal battle with UMG came during the latest episode of his eponymous podcast.
He said of the 6 God: “Or he’s a selfish, lying, manipulative sack of shit who has made enemies for 15 years, and now we’re here at the fucking boiling point. You’ve been behind the scenes being the biggest sack of shit you can possibly be.
“And he’s fucking white and he’s Jewish and he had too much dip on his chip. You have been behind the scenes hitting n-ggas’ baby moms, sending money to n-ggas’ baby moms, been sending messages to this n-gga’s wife.”
Budden also seemed to imply that Drake made insensitive comments about the death of Metro Boomin’s mother, which might explain their falling-out (which Metro has kept shtum about).
“[You’ve been] talking shit about, ‘This n-gga’s mom died but where my beat at, n-gga? I don’t give a fuck that your mom died,'” he claimed.
“Dawg, this n-gga’s been a sack of shit behind the scenes and because he got fans and had Lucian [Grainge, CEO of UMG], everybody just turns a blind eye. The blind days are done.”
Drake made two legal filings against UMG earlier this week, accusing the music giant of using streaming bots and engaging in payola to artificially boost the popularity of Kendrick Lamar‘s hit diss track “Not Like Us.”
The petitions, which seek more information before a lawsuit is filed, also accuses UMG of defaming him by releasing the song, which accuses Drizzy of being a pedophile.
UMG has denied the allegations, saying in a statement: “The suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue. We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns.
“No amount of contrived and absurd legal arguments in this pre-action submission can mask the fact that fans choose the music they want to hear.”
Kendrick and other parties mentioned in the filings such as Spotify and iHeartMedia have yet to comment.
