Joe Budden has offered Ari Lennox a nominal apology, though his tone and temperament suggest that he wasn’t really serious.
In a clip from The Joe Budden Podcast that was published on Tuesday (January 23), the Slaughterhouse MC took a moment to let the R&B singer know that he regrets how he made her feel, claiming that he wants to “try to set a new example in 2024.”
“In a[n] industry that has historically not been great to women, now is not the time for any woman out there to feel like they are under attack, unheard or not seen,” he said. “And if I’ve ever added to that, then I want to do my best to change the trajectory.”
However, he then pivoted.
He said that Lennox had “attempted to demean and defame a Black man” — him — “while summoning the powers universally of Black women, while simultaneously bigging up a white man who fetishizes [presumably Budden’s former co-host Rory, who Lennox praised] — all on Martin Luther King Day.”
He ended with an analogy about her character that made his initial mea culpa seem like a deadpan joke, especially since all his co-hosts were quite visibly amused by it all.
“This chick is a bag of fuckin’ mixed nuts — mixed nuts come from everywhere,” he said. “This bitch is all the nuts combined and I think she’s done a great job of proving the exact point that I was trying to make in the last broadcast, and we shower her with love.”
Budden had previously criticized the Dreamville star over her comments about tour with Rod Wave, during which she was pelted with a bottle. While Budden praised Lennox for being a talented artist, he took issue with her complaining about the arena trek and said that she should have been grateful for the opportunity.
Lennox did not take the kindly to the comments, clapping back by belittling the New Jersey rapper-turned-podcaster’s music career during a fiery Instagram Live broadcast last week.
“I don’t know what Joe Budden’s obsession is with me, but what I will say is that somebody needs to tell him to stop touching them dogs,” she began. “He’s weird and he’s gross. He has smoke mouth. He’s disgusting! And he’s a failure like Drake said.”
The 32-year-old then threatened to spend $20,000 to sue her adversary while pointing out that he “loves to oppose everybody, especially women.”
The above comments about dogs relate to accusations about Budden made by his former girlfriend, who claimed that he committed sex acts with his pet.
The guy makes a living mouthing off about people thriving in an industry that he failed in. The only difference between him and some clown in a comments section is that he gets paid for it. And if you want to call that “success” then that’s fine but don’t pretend what he does is “journalism” anything worthy of respect.
Serious question… if there’s millions of podcasts and a person manages to rise to the top (him specifically any of the top guys) you don’t consider that success? If it’s so easy why doesn’t everyone do it? It’s the ENTERTAINMENT industry their job is to entertain.
people thriving? ari crying as an opening act in Rod Wave tour aint that. lol relax
Rise to the top of what? Hip hop podcasts? Even sh*t floats mate. And he didn’t start at the bottom of that particular niche, it’s not like he was sat in a one room bedsit with a mod mic. Also you say “entertainment” but it wasn’t long ago that these podcasters were crying about being ignored as hip hop journalists, so which is it? Success is more than money, it’s about progress. If a guy goes from working in McDonald’s to running his own restaurant that’s a success. Failing at being a rapper then making a little scratch berating everyone that is able to succeed… That’s not success, that’s just basking in your own ineptitude.
Okay Jay… Now try applying some perspective. Because however you want to rate Ari’s place in terms of rap it’s still higher up the food chain than some bottom feeder who had to quit because he got dropped from multiple labels and eff’d up every professional relationship he’s ever had. Joe Budden is far from the first person to talk sh*t on the internet and certainly not the first person from making money from it. At least chicks on Only Fans stand on their own merits.
Bad example. There’s very little profit in restaurants meanwhile all the top podcasters are millionaires. I listen to all the top podcasts (got a desk job…) and you clearly don’t. Respectfully, your opinion is based on clickbait articles like this one that provide no context. Problem is articles skip the message and post the salacious shit because people like you will click just to complain. I was a big fan of Ari Lennox but she has about years of attention seeking bullshit online. He isn’t lying.
