Jim Jones has recalled JAY-Z‘s reaction to him bringing “20 bloods” to a studio session.
During a recent interview with AllHipHop, the Harlem rapper reflected on recording at New York City’s legendary Baseline Studios during Dipset’s tenure on Roc-A-Fella Records.
“Dipset, we was [fiends] for studio time and making music, and we right in Harlem so we ain’t have to cross no bridges or nothing to get there,” he said. “It was literally a seven-minute ride to get down there, so we used to come in there all the time.
“Me, probably in there with like 20 bloods with me. Jay looking at me like, ‘He crazy.’ I remember one day I came in, there was so many bloods, he said, ‘Yo, come here, come here, come here,’ like he was my uncle. ‘Let me holla at you.’
“Like, ‘Listen, I’m not crazy about all the bloods you bring here, I don’t care about none of that. But if you bring the gangstas in here, make sure the gangstas holla at me before anything else because this is my house.’ I was like, ‘You got that, champ.’ Smooth like that.”

Jim Jones also recalled a story about him losing a card game to JAY-Z and having to borrow money from Memphis Bleek to cover a bet.
“[There was] a lot of gambling in there,” he said. “I remember one day losing my socks in that bitch. Memphis Bleek saved me, he lent me like $6,000 and shit like that, I needed to cover a bet. I lost to Jay. We was playing Guts and if you know anything about Guts, I had two kings and I called Guts.
“If you got two kings, you calling Guts! What’s the odds of somebody else having two aces, and what’s the odds of Jay having two aces. Like, yo bro, what the fucking is going on?! He called Guts, he laughing, he pull out two aces, I was like, ‘Oh my fucking God.’ Had to pay that back.
“Then deal the cards again, I get another two kings. I ain’t got no money, I’m like, ‘Oh my god.’ Bleek like, ‘What you got?’ I’m like, ‘I got two kings, n-gga.’ He like, ‘Yo, what you need?’ I’m like, ‘I gotta cover the bet, six grand.'”
He added: “He gave me the six grand, we ended up taking that to the top. Was able to give Bleek his six grand back.”
Dipset signed to Roc-A-Fella Records in 2001 and released their debut album Diplomatic Immunity in 2003, but ended up parting ways with the label due to Cam’ron‘s falling out with JAY-Z.
In November, Juelz Santana admitted the group felt like they were “never truly welcome” at Roc-A-Fella due to Cam and Hov’s rocky relationship.
“The world pretty much saw the tension that was going on,” he told VladTV. “Jay and Cam never really — I’m not gonna say never got along because that’s a weird word, we not kids. But they had a funny relationship. They never really clicked and meshed to where it felt like we were truly Roc-A-Fella artists.
“Dame always showed us that love and we were cool with State Property, but we just never felt like we were like truly welcome over there. We felt like the outcasts of the family, like we gotta fucking knock the cake over to be seen and heard.”
So he loses a card to Hov, and he borrows money from Bleek? He essentially still borrowing money from Hov LOL
Lick HOV’s Ballin Nuts
This supposed 2 be a cool story or something?
It is
Why would you roll 20 deep in J’s studio on his dime and think he wouldn’t say something? Come on man what’s the point of telling this story? Jim you need a time out fam. Carry on!!!
capo acting like he 16 yrs old. Dude very childish
100% keep in mind by the time Dipset got to Rocafella (~2001) Jay-Z had to be worth like 100 million already, successfully leaving the ‘underworld’ behind him. This is the exact kind of stupidity is why he probably didn’t want to be around them.
It sounds like Jim Jones put Jay at risk brining in street dudes near him. After that Jay probably didn’t chill or with with Jones like that.
And now Jim Jones is laughing it off in an interview.
Don’t drop names, drop an album Jim.

I think as Juelz stated…How just didn’t fuck with them enough to treat them like they were part of the fam. Clear and cut straight to the point beanie siegel and young guns kept they whole hood in the studio…never bothered Hov. Plus Jimmy from New York so it’s obvious how he was moving and what he was into before he signed them. Don’t know don’t really care neither but I think he only signed them to show came who daddy is 😂
