For a brief time, Gary, Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs was signed to Jeezy’s CTE World. As an artist signed to the label, Gibbs would go on to appear on numerous mixtapes with Jeezy and join the rapper on tour, but the relationship between the two artists would eventually go downhill following Gibbs’ departure from CTE World in December 2012.
Gibbs’ exit from CTE World would soon be followed by various diss records and other verbal shots taking aim at Jeezy. Jeezy has remained relatively silent on the matter, but did speak on Gibbs during a newly-released interview with Elliott Wilson of The Truth.
According to Jeezy, he could no longer afford to fund Gibbs’ music career with his own money. He says his conversation with the Indiana rapper about the matter ended on a cordial note despite the disses that would soon come.
“To be honest, it could have,” said Jeezy when asked if his partnership with Freddie Gibbs could have worked. “I put him on a song with Eminem. I put him on a song with T.I. I put him on numerous mixtapes that I had. I took him on tour. Took him around the world. I spent money on videos that he didn’t use cause he didn’t like em. And it wasn’t his money. So, at the end of the day my whole thing was to him was ‘I took you to every label in the game. They don’t wanna sign you. I don’t have no reason—I love you. You know what I’m saying? I think your music is dope, but they don’t want to sign you.’ So, at the end of the day when I called him up I was like ‘Yo, I can’t really spend my money on you. I got family, other shit I gotta take care of. So, I’ll help you all I can, but I can’t fund it anymore.’ Cool. Conversation went well. We got off the conversation it was straight, love. I hear diss records. What I’m supposed to do? I’m not replying to that. Nigga, we getting money…At the end of the day we all tried. It didn’t work. That shit happens in business all the time.”
Prior to speaking on his failed relationship with Gibbs, Jeezy revealed the reason why he’s willing to provide advice to up-and-coming artists.
“Just like me as a cat that’s been in the game I like to deal with the people that really believe in who they are,” he said. “August [Alsina] believes that shit he does. He really carries that around with him. Everything he does. He like ‘Fuck it.’ You know what I’m saying? But that’s how he is. I love that. Cause that’s how I am. And I got so much slack for being that in the beginning because it’s like they had the most problems with the labels. With the radio. Just different shit. So, I like to give a little guidance. Like ‘Okay, this is how you gotta do it. This is what you gotta say. This how you gotta plan.’”
Jeezy also spoke on his upcoming album Seen It All, which he says will focus on “real life situations.”
“I mean, you just have no idea, man just how much effort and how much time and how much frustration and pain and suffering and adversity and just hustling,” the Atlanta rapper said. “Just everything I put into this album. It’s my everything. Man, I put everything. I put my real life situations. I put things that I thought would never happen to me in a million years. I seen things you wouldn’t believe. I seen people that will look you in your face and tell you that they will die for you, kill for you. And when the smoke clears it’s the exact opposite…This album is about all that.”
Seen It All is scheduled for release on September 2 and will serve as Jeezy’s fifth studio album.

Gibbs is honestly better off doing it independently.
Jeezy growing, that’s what’s up. Yall Should Visit (Thegrandreport, com) They Have Some Good Videos On There too
i cant believe you nerds are still pushing this sorry excuse for a website on every article leavin comments pretending to have an opinion… FOH!
I actually fuck with Gibbs more than Jeezy but he made sense with that statement. Gibbs ain’t the kind of artist that’s gonna work on a major in 2014. He shoulda just accepted that shit and moved on.
You believe that bullshit? Jeezy is supposedly a senior Vice presodent A&R for Atlantic records and you mean to tell me he couldn’t do right by Gibbs when Rozay can get Stalley a deal????????
Can you name an artist that has had success in this industry due to Jeezy? Who YG? Jeezy cant fool me with that weak excuse, I hope Gibbs responds swirly to clear the air on this bullshit.
tbh gibbs was dumb to sign to jeezy in the first place.
just because they give u some fancy ass title in the company doesnt mean you have any clout..they give rappers these titles to attract other rappers to sign..”Vice president A&R for Atlantic Records” aint shit but a middle managment position..jayz was the head of def jam & all the established rockafella artists fell off & artist on defjam at the time besides luda & jeezy failed..so by your standards who in the industry has jayz helped
Who has JayZ helped? Every artist on Roc A Fella and Roc Nation that has a Gold record, names like Bleek, Beans, J Cole, Camron and Kanye you friggin idiot.
Did you forget that Hov signed Jeezy and Ross who have been two of the most succesful Def Jam rappers this era??? You fool if the name is supposed to attract rappers to “sign” then why ain’t Gibbs signed then?
” Every artist on Roc A Fella and Roc Nation that has a Gold record, ”
Jay Electronica has a gold record? I didnt even know he had a record…
Jay Elec is rich forever he dont need to drop an album, he fucks Rothchild bitches.
where is the demand for freddie gibbs?
jeezy was on 4 or 5 songs of his and no one gave a fuck
cocaine pinata is a great album but look at the sales…what major label is going to invest in something thats proven not to sell like that?
jeezy a pussy
so is ya mama
“According to Jeezy, he could no longer afford to fund Gibbs music career with his own money.”
hes lying Gibbs said he never took a dollar from Cheesy.
how u know??
you dont have to take money to get shit paid for. i like gibbs too but when jeezy was asked about gibbs when they first split. he said we still cool. mutual decision. you asked gibbs he throwing hella dirt. leave it be. he still talking about this shit. he’ll real hurt behind that shit.
theres a difference between being given money and paying for videos…
in reality gangster gibbs is dope but he from Gary Indiana..at the end of the day it doesnt make sense to sign a artist to a major deal from a small city. I dont understand why Gibbs wasnt trying to fuck with Chicago a little more, Gary is 30 minutes away he shouldve got hot there and then went to indianapolis and from there the labels etc..
Uhhhh, Big KRIT is from Meridian, Mississippi. Ever heard of it? Didn’t think so. It’s not where you’re from.
Who is Big Krit?? Nah I’m messing with you I know him but he really isn’t buzzing except for on the low
Jeezy lying through his teeth. Gangsta Gibbs ain’t even take his money
so the gibbs fella funded all his own studio time/paid for his own videos, equipment & directors?? with his own money?? nigga shut up witcha dum ass
Yeah Gibbs funded his own shit which is why he had a career before Jeezy and has a career after Jeezy with songs Mixtapes videos and the whole nine or did your dumb ass forget that rappers get paid to do shows and take that show money to lay for studio time?
how do you know gibbs paid for those specific videos he didnt want coming out when he was on cte?
did you actually talk to gibbs after u blew him in the bathroom?
My nikka Jeezy, I knew there was more shit behind what Gibbs said! Jeezy, 100!
No disrespect to you above but,he may have funed a couple of things but,to be on tracks with T. or Eeminem you have to have the bread or the relationship to record with those guys..secondly to go around the world with a rapper that is established and get the shine without niggas knowing who u are is big..while I don’t know the whole story im not gonna say a nigga lying through his teeth just because a upstart that’s really not buzzing anymore says something different doesn’t make him right..besides diss records ti Jeezy I haven’t really heard shit from this cat
I’m just agreeing with Jeezy on some points he threw out there. How you going to be traveling around the world, shoot videos, studio time, producers and have ice on yo neck without money? Someone had to finance that shit. Jeezy is caked up, Gibbs is not. It’s easy to see where to go with this one.
slavery was over yeaaaars ago. none of the slavemasters are alive today. quit bitching black niggas. ill use the n word however i want and if any of you punches me well it’s you who is going to prison. just like that white brother handled katt williams. you know what he said to him right before he got slapped and put him in place with the cops? “nothing will happen”. nothing did happen fools.
Somebody didn’t get to suck his usual black dick, fucking fruit, go listen to your heavy metal homo shit.
Gangsta Gibblets is still the shit
I’m with Jeezy on this one Gibbs should’ve known that signing with that label wasn’t even a good look for him in the first place
Freddie just dropped the best album of the year
cant stop playing ESGN and Baby Face Killa
he’s talking bout the joint with madlib
i know that but i still prefer the esgn album and bfk mixtape but pinata goes hard too.
the truth is gibbs is a way better rapper than jeezy he just didn’t come up in the right time.
Fuck jeezy that nigga is a bitch.didnt a make a song with Rick ross
Freddie Gibbs is much better than YG.
Im making $86 an hour working from home. I was shocked when my neighbour told me she was averaging $95 but I see how it works now.I feel so much freedom now that Im my own boss.go to this site home tab for more detail….

DAMN JEEZY DONT WANT IT WITH GANGSTA GIBBS. HE ANSWERED LIKE DRAKE WOULD
Gibbs fund his own shit. Moving bricks unlike officer Ross and all these fake industry wankstas
YOU SEEM DUMB.
Shout out to bill cosby
I dig the way he answered it. He told the truth. Gibbs saw it how Gibbs saw it.. Two point of view, as in any beef.
Jeezy got da streetz on lock.
Freddie Gibbs is much more talented.
Wasn’t Gibbs headlining Jeezy’s tour back in 2012? Wasn’t Gibbs all over Jeezy’s mixtapes, even more so than other artist who were on his label for years? Wasn’t Gibbs on Jeezy’s deluxe version of TM 103, when no other artist from his label was on the album? I fux with Gibbs but it was REAL dumb for him to sign with CTE, especially given the history (Bloodraw was an artist with a gold record but everyone is saying “Bloodraw who?”) and the stylistic differences; Jeezy tried, though. He learned his lesson and decided to have his label managed by Roc Nation
“Wasn’t Gibbs all over Jeezy’s mixtapes, even more so than other artist who were on his label for years? ”
“all over” is a bit of a stretch i think
Jeezy is a OG he bury them cockroaches
Gibbs > Jeezy any day
Gibbs best rapper in the game now, Deniro Farrar, Kevin Gates, Raz Simone, GQ, Denzel Curry, Joey Fatts, Vince Staples all nice too though
add king los and co-sign
Didn’t Gibbs ghost write for Jeezy?
Either way being indie is much more fitting for Gibbs. Had he come a decade earlier, he could be in the position Jeezy is right now.
Aside from an already well-established name like Jeezy, there’s not too much place in the mainstream gangsta rappers. Why would he promote folks who can be his direct rivals in the market? Especially if they’re way less lucrative then Jeezy himself …
Yes Jeezy got him working his artist that probably never would happen without Jeezy, tho Gibbs had planned an album that didn’t release and probably had to start from scratch, so I understand Gibbs frustration, you don’t want to be one those artist who do all these mixtapes and never really have a official album for fans to purchase.
Start working at home with Google! It’s by-far the best job I’ve had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this – 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail,,,,,

I don’t normally take sides in rap beef, but I will say this: there are three sides to every story: yours, mines, and the truth. That being said, every artist/CEO/manager/whatever relationship is bound to go sour at some point. It can’t always work out, so sometimes, it’s best for both parties to do what is best for one another and go their separate ways.
Gibbs was wrong, period.
lol Gibbs stans out heavy tryna defend their hero and shit on Jeezy’s name
How you so sure Jeezy’s lying???
if gibbs didnt like the shit jeezy was trying to get him to put out it mustve sucked anyway. creative control. jeezy wanted an industry rapper, gibbs can put himself at any place in the game right now.
goddamn that fool’s laugh… >: /
ESGN till the end.
Jeezy my nigga. Gibbs my nigga.
But I now I see Jeeezy was wrong.
U put him on a song wit em?
Excuse me but that song was supposed to be on TM 103, it did not make it either cuz of clerance issues or I think em took too much time to give a verse.
Either way that song was leaked it was not even promoted by you niggga.
I’m with Jeezy on this one
Gibbs a broke ass Indiana nigga, he couldn’t afford all that promo
