Jay-Z is set to serve as executive producer for NBA 2K13, currently available for pre-order and releasing October 2nd.
The announcement was made earlier today on Hov’s site Life+Times. In a video promo released for the game, his song “Public Service Announcement” plays in the background.
In addition to endorsing NBA 2K13, Jay-Z was recently named director of Brooklyn’s Barclays Arena, where his Brooklyn Nets will play in the fall.

so what does this mean – is he goin to have a say in what tracks are on the soundtrack – is it goin to be a jay-z 2k13 album – or is he goin to produce all the tracks?

I like this move. 2K Sports paying Jay-Z to be the production coordinator of the music. Who could do it better than Jay. Most likely the music will consist of Jay-Z songs. This move takes the “Jay-Z” brand to another level.
I doubt the game will hold more than 2 Jay-Z songs on the 2k13 roster. That’s not what people want to hear while playin basketball. but it is a good look for Jay. He’s expanding even further, and it’s great to see. Glad I’ve had this preorder on lock for a while.

Clearly people do not know what executive produced means. It does not soley deal with the music part of the game but the overall funding of the game.
2K Games does not need any funding from Jay-Z. Jay-Z is handling the music.

But 2K Games don’t need any finacial backing from Jay-Z. 2K13 will sell with or without Jay-Z association. Jay is the executive producer of the music. That’s all.
