Jay Z Sued Over “Run This Town” Single

Jay Z is being sued by TufAmerica Inc. over the alleged illegal use of Eddie Bo’s “Hook & Sling” song on his “Run This Town” single, according to nydailynews.com.

TufAmerica filed a copyright infringement lawsuit in Manhattan federal court yesterday (November 7), as per nydailyews.com.

TufAmerica says that it purchased the exclusive rights to “Hook & Sling” in 1996, according to nydailynews.com.

The suit, which also names Roc-A-Fella Records, LLC, Atlantic Recording Corp. and several other companies as defendants, is seeking revenue from “Run This Town” and other financial compensation to be determined at trial, as well as a court order to halt “further distribution and exploitation” of the Eddie Bo song, as per nydailyews.com.

A version of “Hook And Sling-Part 1” was uploaded to YouTube via scrambledheadz and is below.

The official video for Jay Z’s “Run This Town,” which also features Rihanna and Kanye West, is below.

TufAmerica has filed two other complaints against Roc-A-Fella in Manhattan federal court this year, the site says. Both suits were settled prior to trial.

Jay Z is also under investigation after purchasing a $33,900 Hublot watch for Yankees infielder Robinson Cano. The gifting of the Hublot watch to Cano on behalf of Jay Z and Roc Nation, which represent Cano, may or may not be in violation of a MLBPA rule that states that, “No Player Agent or Applicant shall provide, cause to be provided or promise to provide, any money or any other thing of value to any player, or any person related to or associated with such player, the purpose of which is to induce or encourage such player to use or continue to use any person’s or firm’s services as a Player Agent, Representative, or Draft Advisor.”

Furthermore, any gift worth $500 or more that is given to a client must be disclosed to the MLBPA. It is currently unclear what disciplinary action or actions Jay Z may face if he did in fact violate the MLBPA rule with his gift.

    1. Goddamn I hate that camel faced faggot with every fiber of my being. I am so glad Ether ended his legacy as far as being a contender for the greatest ever. Thank God for Nas and his timeless music.

      1. You extremist Muslims, hilarious. Your name and comment easily shows you’re angry with Jay and his success being secured in place and monitored via his JEWISH lawyers. Stay mad, keep his name in your mouth like pubes of the hairy puss. PS Arafat should’ve been murdered when he was in talks with Hitler.

      2. i dont think Ether done anything to Jay’s “Legacy”..
        Nas Net worth: 17M
        Jay Net Worth: 600M

Thats what i call a fuckin Legacy dawg!!!

      3. Nas fans will always revert to Ether, then Jay and Nas are making records together and continuing with their lives after squashing the beef. Fuckin’ losers, get a life! Plus whether Jay or Nas won is a question of opinion, thats why the poll wasnt 100% for Nas and 0% percent for Jigga. Dont equate opinions for facts dumb asses. People have different tastes. To others, Jigga won the beef!

      4. Damn, that comment was nothin but bait and yall fell for it.

Stupid fucks. Listen to Anon3. Except the part about Hov winnin the beef, Nas all day. Beef over for a long time for real though and people keep bringin it up to get responses.

      5. dude, Ether doesn’t matter anymore. if you want proof that it doesn’t matter: which album was better between The Blueprint and Stillmatic? The Blueprint by far! which rapper went on to have more success since the beef? Jay-Z by far! I love Nas’s music, but that beef is completely irrelevant because the song didn’t end Jay’s career, if anything it proved how dominant in rap music the man really is

    2. they altered it too much. no way they’re gonna prove without a doubt that that is this song, unless i’m missing something.

    3. Yo! Did I miss something? I didn’t hear anything sampled from that record. Looks like Tuff gonna have to eat those attorney fee’s for bring a case they will not win. Hope they saved up some$$$ Lawyers eatin all day of this one.

    4. alright i listened to 2:00-2:10 like that dude said and that is DESPERATION there is no effin way they illegaled sampled that, the snare drum from 2:00-2:10 is thee most basic rat a tat tat! you don’t need to be a musical genius to figure that out

    5. They Sampled the Drum roll, that was tucked behind the snare in the run this town song. Not enough to ask for compensation

    6. Right… What did they sample from this song? And I’m sure someone else has been hit with a similar suit over sampling this track?

    7. Kanye produced it and gave it to Jay without warning him that he didn’t clear all samples. This is going to mess up their relationship
