Jack Harlow has been on quite the run as of late, and he’s now been honored with a prestigious award in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.

On Wednesday (February 1), the “What’s Poppin'” rapper attended a Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) event — an annual networking soirée — where he accepted the Thomas A. Edison Award.

The award, honoring his achievements both on and off the main stage as well as his commitment to repping his city, is the latest accolade the “First Class” hitmaker has under his belt.

“People ask me where I live and I tell them I don’t live in Atlanta or New York. I don’t live in California. I live in Louisville, Kentucky,” the Louisville-born rapper said during his acceptance speech (via Lousiville Business First).

“I try to make sure I let the world know if you want to do a photo shoot, if you want to take a meeting, if you want to shoot a commercial, if you want to get in the studio and make some music you’re going to have to book that connection flight and come.”

He continued” “We’re going to do some incredible things in the city over the next few years, I promise you.”

Born and raised in the Gateway to the South, Missionary Jack has long put on for his city, revealing that the long game is to have a lasting impact on the people of Kentucky.

During a chat last year with Harper’s Bazaar — after snagging a spot on their 2022 Icons list — the 24-year-old shared that his hope is that his legacy extends beyond the stage.

“I would like people to think of me as real and one of one. And I’d like for people to know me as someone who gave back and lifted the community he’s from up,” he said. I’d like for Kentucky to be different after I leave earth and for people to have a better life because of it.”
