J. Cole To Release Jay-Z Collaboration, “Mr. Nice Watch,” Later Today

Ahead of the release of his upcoming debut Cole World: The Sideline Story (September 27th), J. Cole is releasing one of the most highly anticipated tracks from the album as a gift to fans.

Cole took to his Twitter account in the early hours to announce that he will release the self-produced “Mr. Nice Watch” featuring Jay-Z, who he had been chasing for a guest verse for several months.

He also spoke with VIBE.com about the song’s inception, explaining . “Everything worked out, I’m a true believer that everything happens for a reason. Like, when he did that, it made way more sense than my song. It’s a bigger record, a more universal record,” he said. “Being the hip-hop nerd that I am, I would have loved to hear Jay-Z on that [“God’s Gift”] beat. But really, I’m fine on that song alone. “

In addition to Hov appearing on the LP, guests include Missy Elliott on the ’90s-tinged “Nobody’s Perfect,” Trey Songz on the single “Can’t Get Enough” and Drake on the previously released “In the Morning.”

    1. Otherwise some next shit is gonna happen !!! If this song sucks Jay-z is gonna drop Jay Cole and Sign my nigga BASE GOD!

    2. Did Kanye promote his Jay Z guest verses? I dont remember that. I know Lupe didnt. That Lupe Jay Z guest verse was so powerful because unless you looked at the credits you didnt know Hov was on it.

      1. When asked why he wears women’s jeans, Bieber replied: “what else are you supposed to wear over women’s underwear?”

    3. I THINK ITS CORNY THAT HE TELLS US THAT ITS DROPPING … HE SHOULD HAVE JUST SURPRISED US … SOOO FUCKING CORNY.

DRAKE DIDNT GO ON TWITTER AND BE LIKE “LIGHT UP IS DROPPING TODAY !!!”

      1. this kid has been talking about jay-z for months now

wasnt it like a month ago he didnt know he jay was even gonna have a verse on his album?

      2. no, he didn’t know if this song was going to make the album, and the reason why he talks about Jay so much is because he’s signed to Roc Nation, the first person to sign to Roc Nation actually. like jay is his mentor.

      3. ^ no when he talked about jay it was always in the context of getting a verse. people starting looking at him like a whiner and a crybaby. it was never just chit chatter about jay his mentor… it was always in the context of “i dont have my verse yet” stop twisting facts.

      4. he never whined about having a verse you retard, he wanted jay on the cd, he got it then he said that he didn’t know if the track would make it on the cd. the only one twisting words is you, you fucking dumbass. Get your facts straight dipshit

    4. Why ?? Cole i know you read this , and prob dont care but wheres the intrigue homie,. you a pure hip hop fan and artist, yopu know the feelign of peeling that CD jacket wrapper off and hearig new songs from a sick artist ,. why take that away dude.. you like santa delivering unwraped presents.

    5. Noooooooooooo, It bet its an awesome fucking song, and im a fan, but i wanted to hear it as soon as i unwrapped the cd not a week in advance…takes the specialty outa it. But can’t complain if its quality music

    6. cant wait….when the album leaks ill be listening 2 all the tracks, but ill still be buying the lp

gods gift will be 1 of the highlights of the album, i can already tell by the live one.

the beat needs 2 be sik on this track

WHAT TIME ISIT IN AMERICA NOW? im in england and i need 2 hea this track…

      ?????

    7. STFU to people nitpicking, trying to find little things to hate on Cole. U mad he used Twitter to promote that he’s releasing it? Pathetic ya’ll are so far up his ass you hate on little things like that.

    8. He’s got the same problem as all the new talented rappers. He’s got skill, but he’s just so damn corny and wack as a person. All you niggas anointing him as the savior of hip-hop are buggin’ the fuck out.

    9. dis isnt a smart idea, there’s no point of leaking your best collaboration on the albulm 2 weeks b4 it releases..Im assuming Cole doesnt care about sales at dis time cuz if u include this song w/all the other leaked & old songs, we already heard majority of cd..Sales r looking bad for him right now

      1. carter 4 leaked ages b4 its was supposed 2 be out and that did BIG numbers, and that was the wost album ever…..EVER.

the only way cole will do big numbers is if people support this lp and go out n buy it, im guna listen 2 the full album when it leakes but im still buyin it, its always better having the actual cd

        cole world, gods gift

      2. J. Cole has some die hard fans. whether you understand that or not is irrelevant. I’ve been waiting for the release of this album for years and I’m not the only one. Those people who anticipated the Jay-Z Collaboration are fans already…they will by the album…those who are just gonna hear it without knowing about it before will become fans…they will by the album. #thinkb4youtype

      3. @YD: so ur saying an albulm dat has old mixtape songs, 2 (average singles), 3 leaked songs is gonna sell big? Cole has a good fanbase but it’s not strong enuff yet to where he can even put Drake Thank me Later type of sales

      4. end of the day…who gives a FUK about album sales, if u like the niggas music, buy the lp, if u dont, dont buy it…simple, stop bein fukin bitches about it, i couldnt care less about fukin album sales, they meen nothing 2 me, i thing j. cole is the best new rapper, so im guna buy his album

anyway, 5/6 years down the line, when cole has 5/6 albums out, niggas are guna go back to his 1st lp and buy it cuz they like his new shit, cole is the kind of rapper that is only guna improve, both on rapping skills and production

buy the guys album and support hiphop, ther hasnt bin an artist like cole for years

      5. I agree, I was only talking about da business side of things cuz I kno wen artist dnt sell well, dey cud possibly get dropped..It’s just sad to c dat RocNation isnt promoting dis guy da way dey shud’ve been cuz he’s 1 of da best out

    10. BACK PACK RAP FANS AND UNDERGROUND HIP HOP FANS ARE THE WORST FANS OF THEM ALL, EVEN WORSE THAN MAINSTREAM FANS. WHEN COLE’S SHIT FLOPS AND SELLS 50K YOU GUYS WILL ACT LIKE YOU WERE NEVER FANS IN THE FIRST PLACE.

      1. You clearly have never met a true backpack and underground Hip-Hop fan or maybe not even a true fan because, I for one am a backpack/underground rap fan and I have stuck with my favorite artists through thick and thin. Please don’t generalize or stereotype.
