Inspectah Deck Discusses Drake’s “Wu Tang Forever”

Wu Tang’s Inspectah Deck wasn’t exactly a big fan of Drake’s Nothing Was The Same cut “Wu Tang Forever.”

In a new interview with VladTV, the Wu’s Inspectah claims he gave the track a chance but couldn’t understand why the tune was given that title.

“I didn’t understand how this is a dedication to Wu Tang,” he says. “I listened like three or four times, trying to see where the Wu Tang reference comes in and I could not find it…It doesn’t honor Wu Tang like that it shouldn’t be called that.”

The Shaolin emcee wanted to clarify that he doesn’t have any ill feelings towards Drake, although he turned down a request to hop on the remix. He says,”I wasn’t feeling it.”

“I’m never going to disrespect that man for his grind or hustle alone,” Inspectah Deck says. “There’s love and respect for that dude I ain’t got no problems with him.”

    1. Y’all still talking about this. I dont care now didnt care then. Its a song title who cares. Dude could name his songs track 1-15. Everyone would be like oh my god what does he mean by this. Talk about what your doing in an interview not other dudes.

    2. well due to the fact this guy can’t comprehend a basic sentence makes it pretty easy to see why he doesn’t get how this is a wu-tang dedication.

      1. You Obviously don’t know shit about hip hop if you say that. Inspectah deck in his day was one of the illest Lyricist. I love how you morons think Drake is the best thing that happen to rap you must be like 15 or so to talk out of your ass like that. Go do you history, You guys are the reason why Hip Hop is where it is today.

      1. If your calling yourself OVO XO you HAVE NO DAMN RIGHT TO TRASH WU-TANG. I’m starting to realise that Drake fans are not hip hop fans cause they come on here all the time and disrespect Legends who paved the way for their hero drake. The more you loser talk the more people hate Drake because you idiots are embarrasments to him and hip hop in general. Anybody who disses legends like Wu-tang for Drake have been listen to hip hop for no more than 5 years. And this is nothing against Drake cause I am a fan just not a Jaded one.

      2. Drake and Kanye fans are the worst but hey they’ve been brainwashed by these idiots especially drake. Any artist that has to attack fans of other artists on record to gain popularity is wack period. This dude said if you don’t like my shit you a non pussy getting nigga. So now according to drake fans if you dont like drake you dont and won’t get any ladies which is untrue. I’ve been a hip hop fan for quite awhile I’ve seen artist diss each other but what drake has done was new low for me.

    3. People below talking about how Deck is wack need to check themselves, new Czarface proves the dude is still relevant.

    4. yo czarface is fire I just peeped it for the first time!!!!! you know what my undefeated streak against y’all has finally ended!!!! i think i am going to call it a wrap on my posting career…. i think i will just do real real sick 6 side ovo shit and move on with my life…. i am signing out everyone….. but before I go and AS ALWAYS ANY OF YOU FUCKBOYYYSSSSS FROM NYC OR BK GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT PLEASE COME TO THE 6 AND SEE HOW WE LIVE!!!!!! THIS BEEN WHERE YOU FIND US AT!!!!! OVO XO ALL DAY WITH MY WOES!!!! WAYYYYYYYYYYY UP!!! WE THE BEST!!!!!!!

    5. He took the first few lines from rae verse on its yours so that show he was listening at least give him credit for dat

    6. I agree with Him I still don’t Understand why the song was called that, It really had nothing to do with Wu-tang. I also agree for a song called Wu-Tang forever it was nothing that represented them and it was a pretty shitty song.

    7. I really don’t think the track was supposed to be a dedication to the Wu-Tang Clan. What I believe the title of the track is indicative of is a glimpse into his mind’s eye of the emotions and events that occurred in the summer of ’97. The year Wu-Tang Forever was released. If you pay attention to that track and the one that follows, Drake is telling a story about a girl he was in love with at that time. When people saw that listed as a track title a lot of them speculated as to what that was all about, but I think that’s where he was going with that title and it’s implication.

      1. ….then why not call it “summer of 97”? Im a huge Drake & Wu Tang fan respectfully speaking. But if u gonna name it Wu Tang Forever u gotta make some kind of reference 2 the group no? And Drake is definitely witty enough 2 have slid a line or 2 in bout shoalin! I still liked the song but was very confused by the title after hearing it.

    8. The most interesting part of the story that Deck forgot to mention is that Drake is actually the 10th unofficial member of the Wu-Tang

    9. He does reference Wu on the song. The line “Machine gun rap for all my niggas in the back” is the first line from Raekwon on the original Wu Tang song. And samples of the original sing are scratched in the hook. Still doesnt make since to call it Wu Tang Forever though.

      1. Madonna prolly spit in his mouth for her “homage” track during that kiss but he don’t wanna speak on it. Let’s just admit owl-boy failed with this Wu track and move on.

    10. There’s no just no rules or respect in the game any more. Rappers will give their song a title that will grab people attention, that’s all. A mothafucka will make a song called “Jay-Z and Nas”, and the song will be about sellin’ dope. It’s fuckin’ ridiculous. These fools gotta either start getting sued or getting beat up in order to keep any integrity in this cesspool called rap.

    11. On his next album, Drake’s gonna make a song called “Infamous Mobb Deep” and talk about breaking a girl’s heart.

    12. Anyone of you arguing realised that sampled song came from an album named “Wu-Tang Forver”? It’s not paying homeage, it’s an interpratation. Remember “Practice”?
