Iggy Azalea says she’s flying solo when it comes to parenting her young son with Playboi Carti.
Four-year-old Onyx was born in 2020 – but the two rappers split right around that time. And according to Azalea on her recent appearance on the Dinner’s On Me podcast, Carti has not stepped up in the time since.
“I’m very much a single mother,” she said. “I’m very much the only parent. No disrespect, but I am not co-parenting right now and that’s just the reality of it. It’s one, it’s 24/7.”

Late last year, Carti and Onyx appeared in a mini-documentary named Dear O, which contained home video footage capturing sweet moments between the father-son duo.
However, the short film wasn’t received well by Iggy Azalea.
In a sarcastic message posted on X the following day, the Aussie rapper took issue with Carti being portrayed as a doting daddy, writing: “Its cool how you can fit damn near every visit into just one video [white heart emoji] Talented!”
Iggy Azalea and Playboi Carti began dating in 2018 and broke up roughly two years later. The pair welcomed Onyx in April 2020.
Speaking of their “volatile” relationship on Emily Ratajkowski’s EmRata podcast last year, Iggy revealed that she decided to walk away from the Whole Lotta Red rapper not long after giving birth.
“Like, right after I had my son, I left his father,” she said. “Something happened one day with my son’s father and me, and it was just one of those moments where you’re just like, ‘I didn’t wake up thinking this is what my day would be.’ But by the end of the day, I was on a plane to Los Angeles and I never went back.”
She continued: “I didn’t think I was going to be leaving when I left. My father and my mother had such a volatile relationship that I wish I had seen less of it. And so that was what happened to me in that moment that I had on that day.
“I was like, I will never let my son see this because I don’t want him to see someone talk to me this way too, but because I don’t want him to ever learn this, I don’t want him to be exposed to this.”
