Director Rik Cordero’s [click to read] coming of age drama Inside A Change [click to read] received top honors at HBO‘s New York International Latino Film Festival on Sunday. The film stars Ephraim Benton as Chris Price, a young man whose struggles on the streets are amplified by a disparaging environment and an upcoming prison sentence.
“I’m shocked that we wonconsidering all of the amazing films on the roster this year,” said Cordero. “We created a heartfelt picture about the importance of family and I think it’s something audiences strongly connect with during these tough economic times. Even if you strip away all the heavy grassroots promotion wedid, the film follows the same basic principle: tell a good story.“
Known for directing documentaries, shorts, and independently producing music videos for big artists like Jay-Z, Nas, The Roots, Snoop Dogg, and many others, Cordero‘s win will count as his first NYILFF win for a film.
