“I’ve been a big fan of Jordan Peele and Henry Selick for a long time so being able to help provide music to this trailer was awesome,” Doechii said in a statement. “I love anything that shows alternative representation of people like me in weird, quirky ways. Happy Halloween!”

“I Told Em” didn’t make the cut for the TDE artist’s She / Her / Black Bitch EP, but the haunting track still found a home inside the spooky trailer of the Henry Selick-directed movie. She took to Instagram to reveal that the record is produced by Rahki.

“Get ready for Spooky Season, with Henry Selick and Jordan Peele’s new stop-motion animation film, Wendell & Wild. Arriving October 28, only on @netflix And that  Yeah, that’s ‘I Told Em,’ by Doechii and Rahki,” Doechii wrote.

Wendell & Wild reunites the acclaimed Key & Peele comedy sketch duo of Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele while the rest of the cast includes Angela Bassett, Tamara Smart, Lyric Ross, James Hong and more.

Music plays a major role in the flick as Lyric Ross’ character named Kat has its very own cyclops boombox playlist featuring various Afro-punk track.

The 2022 HipHopDX Rising Star has been keeping busy this year as she recently stopped by the COLORS studio for a vibrant performance of her new “Stressed” single, which earned an impressive stamp of approval from Doja Cat.

“God was present,” the Grammy-winning artist said of Doechii’s performance on Instagram earlier this week.
