Featured on Doechii’s debut EP she/her/black bitch, the video showcases Doechii and SZA’s immaculate chemistry, which the HipHopDX 2022 Rising Star said in a statement was why she linked up with her fellow TDE signee in the first place.
“I created ‘Persuasive’ to uplift people and bring communities together, so having SZA jump on the song was a perfect fit because I’ve always connected with others over her music,” Doechii said.
“Knowing that SZA is with TDE was what originally got me most excited about being on this label, so now that we have a song together it’s a full-circle moment. She really ATE! This collaboration is everything I always imagined it to be.”
Doechii dropped off her she/her/black bitch EP on August 5, which featured additional appearances from Rico Nasty and Jst Ray.
“Many times I’ve been referred to as a ‘bitch’ as a way to gaslight me out of certain spaces, something I think many people can relate to in one way or another,” Doechii added in a statement about the project. “Lots of people will call you various names for doing something differently.”
She continued: “So I decided to take ownership of the ‘Black bitch’ and title my EP she/her/black bitch and reclaim that motherfucking power. So if you’ve ever been put down for being yourself, just remember you’re powerful and unapologetic- these songs are for you.”
The EP also features production from Kal Banx, Hit-Boy, Bankroll Got It, and Devin Malik, and is executive produced by Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith and Anthony “Moosa” Tiffith Jr.
Meanwhile, ‘Persuasive’ is the second video in a matter of days for SZA, who also stars in the latest DJ Khaled visual, “Beautiful,” alongside Future.
Directed by the ever-prolific Colin Tilley (Kendrick Lamar “Alright,” Nicki Minaj “Anaconda”), the romantic clip opens with the We The Best tapping into his inner-casanova and charming a caramel beauty on the beach.
“Beautiful” features on Khaled’s 13th studio album, GOD DID, which was released on Friday (August 26).
