Irv Gotti has received backlash for his comments about “grabbing Ashanti‘s ass” in the latest episode of BET’s The Murder Inc. Story.
In the third episode of the docuseries, which aired on Tuesday (August 23), Gotti explained how his relationship with Ashanti began, recalling his version of an interaction between the two of them after a studio session one night.
“I’m separated from [my wife] Deb, I’m on my own.” he said. “And Ashanti’s coming to the studio every day and our friendship and bond is naturally growing. She used to wear these juicy sweats and her ass was looking fat. Her ass was looking great.
“So, one day I was like, ‘Yo, I’ll take you home.’ She said, ‘Bet, cool.’ We are walking to her front door of her crib. She turns and says goodbye and I just kiss her and grab her ass and just, ‘Mwah.’ It was like, ‘What took you so long?’”
Fans fled to Twitter to criticize Irv Gotti, accusing him of taking advantage of Ashanti as the founder of the label she was signed to.
“I’LL SAY IT: Ashanti was like 20 & Irv Gotti was 10 years older, in control of her career with power dynamics; it’s giving he preyed on her,” they wrote. “It’s creepy & some would say sexual assault, cause no consent. What if she felt she had to be with him for her career? #MurderIncStoryBET.”
Another fan said: “Irv Gotti a whole fuckin’ predator, but we’re supposed to care that he’s ‘hurt’ that Ashanti moved on to someone more age appropriate. He can rot!”
Ashanti laughed off being involved in the Murder Inc docuseries in July, leading another fan to note: “There needs to be a hefty conversation about Irv Gotti, because in no way should any man be talking about someone the way he’s talking about Ashanti, ESPECIALLY when she made it clear she wants no part.”
Irv Gotti appeared on Drink Champs with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN earlier in August and was asked if his alleged romantic relationship with Ashanti ever got in the way of business.
“It helped her,” he said, before explaining how “Happy” came about. “We just finished sleeping together, or whatever, I’m taking a shower. I’m in the shower, you know, a n-gga be creative after [sex] … I think of the whole track in the shower.”
Gotti said he immediately got out of the shower, made a phone call and went to the studio to work on the track with producer Chink Santana.
“’Okay, now it’s time for you to write. Yo, I want the shit to be a feel-good joint, like summertime,’” he recalled. “The energy, that record came about ’cause of our energy.”
Irv Gotti was asked by N.O.R.E. if he “missed that energy a little bit,” with Irv answering “not anymore” and claiming he’s moved “way past that.”
“I honestly don’t give one single fuck,” he continued. “I’m Dr. Dre, been there, done that, and the chick sitting next to me, I don’t want to say crushing her, but she’s in her 20s and ridiculously hot. I know that person and I am cool with where we are, with not speaking, not anything.”
Ashanti didn’t directly respond to the comments, but she called for “positive vibes and energy” days after the interview was released.
Well you could be bill cosby.
And you’re white!
This dorky naqqa stuck like demon dash punk ass
Stfu you white piece of shit
So called hip hop fans are frauds. The love rap songs where rappers are disrespecting women. Now they want to cancel Irv Gotti because of his comments about Ashanti which weren’t disrespectful at all. “The Culture” is fake.
I don’t think that’s hiphop fans who give a fuck.. it’s mostly small hats and women whose last name ends in -berg or -stein etc. Typically only white men get #metoo’d / cancelled though so its weird since Irv isn’t one. if Ashanti was white though, nobody would give a fuck.
They are both old and washed up thinking this is 20 years ago. Who cares.
Put all the milenials on social media in a giant toilet and flush them to the sewers of shit. All they do is criticize other peoples relationships. That shit happened 20 years ago when yall was in middle school. Back then it wasnt called “creepy” it was called being confident. Back then women respected a confident man who wasnt afraid to shoot his shot in person years before social media existed.
WAIT, WHO BRANDED HIM? AN NPC ON TWITTER? FOR REAL??!
Irv the perv!!! the hate is real. He Thought this show would hurt her.. blew up in his face….made her bigger… she got star on Hollywood walk of fame and he got old stories no one cares about .He is in her rear view mirror and she turned the corner
But R-Uh Kelly is in Jail. AND: He was f****n’ Pop Singer Vanessa Carlton behind His Wife’s Back!!!
She was an adult who consented, nuff said. Irv just a dumb f*ck ego maniac for blabbing about it.
Shes not even human. But a reptilian ai robot
This show cracks me up! I can’t even watch this shit without laughing out loud! You motherfuckers know good and well what your corny ass legacy is in the annuls of hip-hop history and ain’t no poorly produced mini-series gon change that. Period. You got Mitsubishi Tah and Black Child or whatever the fuck his name is eager to be interviewed like anyone actually gives a fuck about their opinions. As if the only thing you will be remembered for won’t be how 50 clowned the shit out of you with one bar and ruined what fledging “careers” you thought you had. Shutup. Getting that check from BET to be interviewed gotta be the only legit money you niccas been seeing in a minute. Vita? Ha! Somebody actually thought that people wanted to listen to “the lil fast ass girl from Belly” rap!?! There is not one single person on this planet at this very moment playing a Vita song. Guaranteed. Ja? His “legacy” kinda speaks for itself. Came out as an off-brand ‘Pac, a watered down DMX. Even at the height of his fame I remember being dumbfounded that people actually thought he even had star quality, charisma, “it.” When he started getting called out for being un-original, he made a bunch of shitty r&b-ish records whining like the Cookie Monster. None of those records have aged well. At All. Nobody is revisiting his catalog on a regular basis. Nobody will speak about his records when they speak about the history of hip-hop other than to bash them for how corny they were. 50 came along and made everyone realize what most hip-hop heads already knew-that Ja Rule was a fucking clown and his music was ass. These dudes spend half their damn documentary talking about 50 Cent! Ja Rule will be remembered for three things: Corny ass music/50 Cent beef, going to prison for not paying taxes, and the Fyre fest. That’s it. Nobody. Absolutely nobody is like “Yo, throw on some Ja Rule!” The last time I heard a Ja Rule record was at my 20 year high school reunion two years ago. The Karen’s went crazy lmfao. And Irv “Gotti.” What a clown. This dude always fronting like he’s Mr. super producer, more like Mr. “I loop the shit out of everyone else’s hit records.” At least Puffy actually sampled the shit, for example. You just took hit hip-hop records, looped them and got someone to sing or rap on it. I ain’t even gon waste my time commenting on Ashanti because clearly she was smart enough to see the fuckery at some point and jump ship. So no matter how much you morons want to talk about how you “changed the game,” you didn’t. Your shit was garbage and will always be garbage. Trends come and go and timeless music stands the rest of time. Period. Hip-hop was glad when you were gone and doesn’t want you back. We want to forget you even existed.
It was too long to read, so judging by your name I’m going to assume you’re right. Thanks.
You have the attention span of a gnat, thanks
My penis is so large that even a semi erection takes most of my blood.
