Filipino rap star Shanti Dope laments finding genuine relationships and being betrayed in his latest single, “Tricks,” released on August 12.

The “Nadarang” rapper narrates how achieving fame at a young age has impacted his view on relationships, putting his guard up, and ending up disappointed—all of which do not necessarily stop him from putting himself through the same predicament.

He goes on to rap how he often finds comfort in a special someone, however difficult the circumstances are, with suggestive lyrics that allude to turning to alcohol to escape.
