Toronto, Canada

Drake has responded to some criticism he’s been receiving from environmentalists over an alleged 14-minute flight he took on his $200 million Air Drake private plane.

Reports about the short flight his Boeing 767 took from Toronto to Hamilton in Ontario came as part of an exposé by The Guardian last week (July 21), which also named Kylie Jenner, Floyd Mayweather, Kim Kardashian and Mark Wahlberg.

On Tuesday (July 26), the 6 God hopped into the Real Toronto Newz‘s Instagram comments to respond to the uproar, claiming that the plane was empty at the time and the flight was just so the plane could return to its home hangar for cleaning and routine maintenance.

“This is just them moving planes to whatever airport they are being stored at for anyone who was interested in the logistics,” he wrote. “Nobody takes that flight.”

Since The Guardian article, which lists Drake as the worst culprit for emitting CO2 emissions, environmentalists have continued to badger Drake and he’s faced a heavy backlash on social media throughout the week, prior to his explanation of why the plane was in the air for such a short amount of time.

“Drake is part of the problem, taking multiple 15 minute flights to Hamilton and back while the environment is collapsing. Dude, take the GO train ffs,” writer and filmmaker Jesse Hawken wrote on Twitter.

Technology reporter Temur Durrani tweeted: “Canadians will complain about climate change then pay thousands to go to the next Drake concert, acting like he isn’t taking his private jet on flights from Hamilton to Toronto.”

Drizzy gassed up Air Drake for a vacation to St. Tropez earlier in July, which saw him have some petty fun at Joe Budden’s expense and make a failed attempt at wooing a woman by Airdropping her a photo of herself.
