Funk Flex Chooses Violence As He Responds To Conway The Machine’s ‘Gatekeeper’ Comments

Funk Flex has responded to Conway The Machine’s commentary on New York City DJs. Late Monday night (July 11), the veteran Hot 97 radio personality went in on the Griselda rapper and blatantly told him his career was basically over.

“@whoisconway hahahaha!” he started. “Soooo? Let’s begin! Your managed by ROCNATION (JAY-Z), Signed to SHADY RECORDS (EMINEM), Distributed by INTERSCOPE RECORDS? (MAJOR LABEL). YOU AND YOUR TEAM HAVE HAD A FEATURE FROM JAYZ, EMINEM, LIL WAYNE, JCOLE, JADAKISS, TRAVIS SCOTT, FRENCH MONTANA AND MORE???

“WASN’T U ON KANYE/DONDA ALBUM? IM GONNA GIVE YOU THE ADVICE PAUL ROSENBERG SHOULD OF GAVE U! YOU’RE A 40 PLUS ‘BARS RAPPER’ SORRY LYRICIST THAT HAS HAD EVERY RESOURCE POSSIBLE!”

Funk Flex continued in all caps, “IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR ‘CAREER’ AS OF TODAY? WITH ALL THEM CO-SIGNS? I THINK U HAVE PEAKED MY GUY? WHAT U THINK (YOUR ONLY GONNA TAKE THIS AS DISRESPECT BECAUSE TRUTH MIGHT BE A BIT MUCH FOR YOU?

“SIGNED GRANDPA/WHEELCHAIR BANDIT/WARM MILK GENERAL. I MIGHT NEED A PODCAST? WHAT YALL THINK???”

He added in the caption, “@whoisconway HAHAHA! U STILL UP???? U SAID U WANTED TO DEBATE MY FRIEND???? LETS START HERE???? REMEMBER U STARTED THIS! Ps: (U AINT IN THE LOX LEAGUE????) ITS ME??? GRANDPA??? WHEEL CHAIR BANDIT??? WARM MILK GENERAL????? ANY OTHER RAPPER WANT SOME SMOKE TONIGHT???? STEP UP AND GET YOUR CRANIUM CRACKED???”

It didn’t take long for Conway The Machine to pop up in the comment section with, ‘This y’all king?” Funk replied with a few laughing emojis to which Conway said, “@funkflex we doin internet posts or we gon chop it?? Lol you’re 60 years old bruh tell me when I’m wrong.”

Conway The Machine Calls Out Funk Flex & NY DJs For Gatekeeping: ‘We Gotta Get Rid Of Y’all N-ggas’

Conway The Machine sparked the contentious e-battle during a recent Instagram Live posted by The Hip Hop Wolf on Monday (July 11). The entire Instagram account has since been deactivated.

“New York, in my opinion, man you gotta get them old n-ggas up out the way like Flex and them n-ggas man,” he said. “You know what I mean? Them gatekeepers that you got up there man that’s trying to dictate like who, you know what I’m saying? Like c’mon bruh. Good thing I don’t need y’all n-ggas cause if I needed y’all n-ggas y’all n-ggas would be fake stifling my groove.”

(Oh and for the record, Funk Flex is 53 years old — not 60).

    1. And Conway the machine is 40. Westside gunn is 39. Benny is 37. These dudes shouldn’t be talking about age at all. They lucky they made it in the game in their mid 30s in this era where young rappers dont respect OGs like they did 20 years ago. Lets be honest, all these guys are old enough to remember the pre-internet era when nobody respected rappers under 21. Back then all young rappers was good for was an entourage like the Outlawz was for Pac. Now all of a sudden 19 year rappers are cool. But Conway is 40 bottom line.

      1. Fr, things is different today anyway, 40 is still relatively young in the world we now live in. Too much emphasis is on dudes age when it should be about the quality of they music

    2. Flex a bich, someone should have got at him for them 2Pac comments. Dude is the east coast wack 100. Has 0 talent but somehow has a large following.

    3. Flex is 60 talking about people age “over 40” rather be an over 40 artist with ears and a pen than a senior citizen DJ that’s been deaf since 1998

    4. flex is a troglidite. the gatekeeper of the east. large following but who has he put on… I’ll wait til someone tells me! please I’m curious.

    5. Dope music is dope music, who the fuk listens to a song and goes, “man this dude better be 19, cause if he isn’t I can’t get with it”. It’s trash rappers of all ages.

      1. who the fuk listens to a song and goes, “man this dude better be 19, cause if he isn’t I can’t get with it”

Sadly most hip hop fans think this way……….That’s why rap is lame because you can only really be relevant from 18-30………Rap is the ONLY genre where the rappers who have been in the game get pushed to the side and get no love….It’s weird but true..

    6. Flex is right. Those dude got insane co-signs and still haven’t really really taken off like that. Those guys at Griselda must change up their sound. I cannot even listen to westside gunn anymore. All those slow beats and lyrics sound exactly like the last 10 albums/mixtapes. They ran out of lyrics.

      1. They got more money in they pocket than 90% of young multi platinum rappers.

    7. Y’all forgetting this clown is the same one that has a friend that likes to play with dude’s booties. And this clown never spoke up for that, pedophile supporter. And even if Conway is over 40, you saying Chuck, KRS, BDK, and Kool G Rap wack because they all over 40?Go somewhere Booty Boy with The wack car collection

      1. Wouldn’t go that deep but yes griselda does have great artist for sure

    8. doesnt matter how old any of these non player characters get, they are all medium place people. conway can’t even carry a feature and flex is a sugar booger that thinks screaming equals saying something . both of them make the world a worse place

    9. I really wanna like Griselda. The dark toned beats are crazy and the simplistic raps mostly slap but idk… something about middle aged rappers going OD with “skuuuurt, bluuuuuuurt, doopdoopdooopdoop” adlibs on every other bar on EVERY song that doesnt sit well with me

    10. The problem is, rap is still figuring out how to age. It’s such a relatively young music genre, being only about 40 years old itself, that rappers are still waiting for the blueprint of what to sound like and rap about in their 40’s, particularly ‘grimy’ rappers, who start sounding silly doing crime raps at 43. So, as MF’s from the hood often do, instead of supporting each other, they start picking each other off and bringing each other down. Rap is corny now since these young dudes took over, but honestly, the older dudes just let them walk in and piss on the walls, and didn’t say anything because they didn’t wanna risk being called ‘ a hater’ or missing out on the little rich kid’s pool party. So they let them ruin the genre in a lot of ways. Peace.

    11. Skirt wearing is where conway lost me and the respect. Now he’s hating like he’s on The Viewof hip-hop. Flex is all facts in this Convo.

    12. I don`t really get the Griselda hype tbh.
But Flex is a clown to me (yes i know he has more money than me).

    13. Griselda is the best thing in the culture right now…but ppl don’t want lyrcism…lyricism isn’t getting respect…they should keep doing their thing tho and let tho and not worry what flex or anyone says.

    14. I don’t know what it is with rappers having issues with age. The Rolling Stones are old as balls and they still rocking and selling out shows. I hate mumble rap that’s just not for me. Like to understand what I’m hearing. But if a young one comes out with dope rhymes then I’m down.

      1. Correct. Using age to diss someone is kind of stupid because we all age eventually. If you’re going to diss someone, find something exclusive to that particular person.

    15. Flex is a BOZO! Griselda made millions and got super popular with real Hip Hop fans around the globe without NY radio! Flex to busy trying stay relevant sucking these new trash bag rappers off. It’s almost completely over for Hot97 though. No artist is saying, I need to get on Hot97 anymore. All the artists in NY relying on radio ain’t going any where because of clowns like Flex and Ebro. The independent route is the way to go. Labels like Griselda threaten Flex and Hot97’s existence and expose the fact you don’t need radio to be successful and rich in the music business now our days.
