The deadly triple shooting involving Ludacris’ longtime manager Chaka Zulu left a 23-year-old man dead and two others in the hospital, including Chaka. The incident took place on Sunday (June 26) in the parking lot of the Buckhead area restaurant APT 4B.
On Thursday (June 30), APT 4B management issued a statement expressing how devastated they are by the violent altercation that took place on their property. The statement also suggested they’re actively taking action to ensure nothing like this happens again.
“We are shocked and saddened by the incident that occurred in the parking lot our restaurant shares with other businesses,” the statement read. “We are deeply concerned about the increase in crime that is affecting businesses in our community, and we stand ready to assist in finding solutions.
“As a community-based restaurant that sees everyone as family, public safety is and has always been our #1 priority for our staff, patrons, and neighbors. We are offering our full support to APD and other agencies and providing information.”

Chaka Zulu, his daughter and another friend were apparently leaving an event when Chaka was approached by another man in the parking lot. In surveillance video of the scene, Chaka and the other man started exchanging words until the conversation grew more aggressive. The other man had his hand on and around his waistband.
When a female bystander tried to push the man away from Chaka, the man bumped the music executive with his chest, prompting Chaka to grab him by the collar. That’s when a group of about three of four other men, who’d been watching the whole event unfold, knocked Chaka to the ground with a punch and proceeded to kick him. One guy then produced a gun and fired at least two shots, so Chaka pulled out his own weapon and fired at least one shot in return.
Chaka underwent emergency surgery that night. In a statement to Channel 2, former Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed revealed Zulu was stable with, “We are fortunate to report that Chaka Zulu is in stable condition and recovering. The family thanks everyone for their well wishes and prayers, and asks for their privacy at this time.”
