Las Vegas, NV

A Las Vegas jury was expected to be selected on Monday morning (May 9) in the felony robbery case against YG. But according to TMZ, the case was settled before the process could begin. The alleged victim accepted YG legal team’s proposal to settle out of court at the last minute. He was no longer interested in cooperating with prosecutors, so the case was dismissed.

YG’s attorney, Joe Tacopina (who also represented Meek Mill in 2018), said, “Justice was served expeditiously. We would’ve had the same result if the case went to trial.”

The alleged assault took place at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas in May 2018 when a fan asked YG for an autograph. Rather than oblige, the Compton-bred rapper allegedly started cussing him out and it escalated into an altercation. The defendant said as he was walking away, YG told his entourage to “get him” before snatching his gold chain and diamond-laced pendant. The chain was valued somewhere between $3,000 and $9,000.

YG Charged With Felony Robbery Following Alleged Chain-Snatching

YG turned himself in to authorities in July 2018 and was charged with felony robbery for allegedly stealing the jewelry, but he was quickly released on $20,000 bail. Video footage from the casino reportedly caught it all on tape. The man was initially suing YG for assault, battery and theft. He wanted at least $250,000 in damages, but it’s unclear how the whole thing was ultimately resolved.
