ScHoolboy Q is about as avid a golf fan as you’re going to find in Hip Hop. With his love for the country club sport, Nike enlisted Q to star in a commercial detailing Tiger Woods’ journey to the mountaintop as round one of the Masters opened on Thursday (April 7).

“What would you be willing to do to chase your dream,” the Los Angeles-bred rapper asks at the start while hitting a tee shot. “Would you be willing to follow it to a place you’re not welcome?”

The ad then shows Tiger powering through injuries to win five Masters Tournaments. “Would you open doors for people like me,” Q then basically says directly to Tiger. “For people like us?”

As someone who got into golf later in life, the Top Dawg Entertainment artist is among a generation of Black golfers inspired by Tiger Woods’ greatness to pick up a golf club.

“Coming from where I come from, the life that I had, I never thought about playing golf,” Q said in February while taking part in the 2022 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. “I got into it, and it changed my mental, it let me learn myself as a person.

“Like, this is why certain things in my life are going bad or certain things are going good, because of the attitude thing. It fixed my attitude in life. It fixed a whole lot of things about me in life.”

ScHoolboy Q is sure to be locked into the Masters all weekend with Tiger Woods making his return from a gruesome leg injury stemming from his February 2021 car accident.
