St. Petersburg, FL

With gas prices soaring across the United States, Rod Wave wants to do his part to provide some “gas relief” to those living in his hometown. The “Heart On Ice” crooner took to Instagram on Monday (March 28) to announce a free gas giveaway to drivers in St. Petersburg, Florida at the Sunoco on 34th Street on April 9 at noon.

“Gas high as fuck,” he proclaimed. “Ay, St. Petersburg, Florida, St. Pete, 727 — giving away free gas April 9 at the Sunoco on 34th right before you get on the bridge. April 9, I’m giving away $25,000 in free gas. So April 9, 12 o’clock, pull up and get you a free full tank.”

The free gas drive idea was seemingly inspired by Rod Wave’s Bently costing him $100 to fill up, which inspired him to give back to the community that raised him.

Rod Wave isn’t the only rapper not feeling the rise in gas prices. Ice-T posted a hilarious tweet last week where he details being robbed by a gas pump in a bizarre plot twist.

“I was robbed at a gas station in NJ last night,” he wrote. “After my hands stopped trembling..I managed to call the cops and they were quick to respond and calmed me down….. My money is gone.”

On the music side, Rod Wave is still keeping busy. He’s teased a collaboration with Future that’s expected to land on his next album and look for the Florida native to appear on DJ Khaled’s upcoming LP as well.
